Join the Wranglerettes and Choir students during lunches as we raise funds to gift to our high school custodians this holiday season. $1 donated = 1 high kick from a Wranglerette, and the choir singers will be accepting tips for their incredible performances. They accept cash or Venmo and will be at all 3 lunches on the designated days. Let’s give back to our maintenance and custodial staff that do so much for our students!

The newly formed Friendswood ISD chapter of Texas Future Music Educators met this week to get a glimpse of life as a music generalist. Band and choir students switched instruments/voices - band students sang with solfège, handsigns, and scale degree numbers, while choir students learned about fingerings, embouchure, and transposition. Each student had an opportunity to demonstrate something new to a peer, and at the end, everyone played through Jingle Bells on an instrument that was new to them. Someday soon in college they’ll take a class for every instrument method - and they have a new enthusiasm and appreciation for it today!

Last night we showcased our 215 Friendswood Dance Department students at our Fall Demonstration. These students have put in hours worth of rehearsal and it all paid off last night. Thank you to all who attended!

Congratulations to all of our FHS Band student that placed in TMEA District Band! These students have spent countless hours practicing their music for this audition. Good luck to everyone advancing to Area! 🎶

When did the FHS Fine Arts teachers get so old?!

The Friendswood High School Dance Department is excited to announce the inception of our chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. If your student is interested in induction and membership information, please send them to our informational meeting (students only) held in the FHS Drill Room on Thursday August 31st from 4-4:30pm. Students must be currently enrolled in a class within our FHS Dance Department to be eligible for induction consideration.

Congratulations to our FHS Band!

Today, the Friendswood High School Wind Ensemble advanced to STATE in the TMEA Honor Band process! The Wind Ensemble placed first overall out of nine total competing bands in our area. We will compete in the Semifinals round in July at the State level contest in San Antonio at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention.

Congratulations to the other two advancing bands in our area and for the other bands advancing to State! We are incredibly proud of our kids and their hard work and are proud to represent Friendswood at the state level.

Our Fine Arts Teachers say one last goodbye to the Dr. Myrlene Kennedy auditorium at FHS. This auditorium opened in 1969 and has housed many of our most memorable shows. We will miss this space but are so ready and excited to work in our new PAC. 🤍

Today, FHS Thespians were named and recognized as one of 8 Troupes in Texas as a State Thespian Honor Troupe for 2022 - 23. Please congratulate our ITO for their year long dedication to this program. Students participated in a leadership program with 10 monthly meetings and specific State tasks that involved Troupe Leadership, Troupe Community service, Student Membership, Troupe productions and Troupe management. Our officers are: Jiszelle Cross, Connor Adams, Jacob Mayfield, Ruby Brashier, Hunter Hovorka, Kynlee Landrum, Gabi McGregor, Carter Hall.

Announcing the 2023 FHS Choir Pop Show, "Songs YOUR MOM Likes!" Come join us for an evening (or afternoon!) featuring a wide variety of songs suggested by the mothers of our fabulous FHS Choir singers. We will be featuring 53 incredible solos and small groups, as well as performances by each of our five choirs, and combined numbers that are sure to bring the house down!

There will be two evening performances on Friday and Saturday, May 12th & 13th beginning at 7:00pm ($15 per ticket), as well as our FIRST half-length Saturday Matinee on Saturday May 13th beginning at 2:30pm ($8 per ticket).

We hope you will join us for these final performances in our Dr. Myrlene Kennedy Auditorium!

The FHS Musical program proudly announced that Mallory Migl was named the Best Singer at the Tommy Tune Awards ceremony held on Thursday, May 4 at the Hobby Center. Migl, who performed as a lead vocalist in the musical The Music Man, impressed the judges with her exceptional voice and outstanding stage presence.

We are proud to announce that Friendswood ISD has been named a from NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education!

Our FHS Color Guard auditions will be held April 24-26th from 5:00-7:30pm in the FHS Boys Gym. No experience necessary!

We want to take a moment to spotlight our FHS Dance Department as we prepare for the 8th grade endorsement fair on Thursday February 16th from 6-8pm here at the high school. Our Dance Department is full of classes that your student would benefit from. Come to the Drill Room during the endorsement fair to learn more and be able to ask questions.

This last weekend at the Clear Lake debate tournament, the FHS Debate team took home several awards.

Domestic Extemp: Every tournament, a total of 6 students make it to finals. This tournament, 5 of those 6 final students were from FRIENDSWOOD!!!

Last but not least, this last week, Marshall Prince was awarded with the National Speech & Debate Association's Academic All American award! Fewer than 1% of students earn this award each year. This places Marshall among the top one-percent of all student members across the country.

Save the date! The FHS Dance Department will be producing their Fall Demonstration showcase on Wednesday December 8th here in the FHS Boys Gym. Admission is free and you expect a shorter show that is full of entertainment!
