*LMS Seniors ‘24*
Parents, this morning the school and PTA celebrated our past Lawler Legends who are now Seniors! This class of 2024 is off to do great things!!

I wanted to share in case your student was in this group or maybe a family friend or neighbor. But also to thank you all for your continued support of the PTA. One of our two scholarship recipients was able to attend - congrats, Leo - and he was so thankful!

I love moments like this bc it shows why the PTA and our school’s success is so important… it helps mold and educate amazing kids! We’re so proud of our graduating Seniors! 🧡

**Happy Valentine’s Day, Lawler!**
The PTA had fun today at Lawler doing what we LOVE best… serving our students and spoiling our staff.

Thanks to all of your donations, @⁨Shelby Jones⁩ (our Hospitality Chair) was able to set up the cutest candy and dessert bar for all the staff! Everyone loved being able to pass by, visit with one another and grab a sweet treat to go! Thank you, Shelby!

Our Student Incentive Store was also open today to a lot of excited students. I wanted to share a few photos and also thank 6th grade dad, @⁨~Brajesh M⁩, for being our volunteer today! We have the best students at Lawler and thanks to your support of PTA (and our Fall Fundraiser), we are able to give students a fun experience on campus.

**Reflections ‘23-‘24**
Parents, check out a sneak peek into this year’s Reflections art gallery. Isn’t it beautiful?

We had 14 submissions this year between the categories of music, literature and visual arts across all grades. Our students are so talented… we should all be so proud of them! Great job, kids!

I would also like to give a special thanks to Aparna Vijayaraghavan, our Reflections Chair, for her time and dedication to this program. Lawler was well represented at the District Art Fair last month. 🧡

(The art display is located across from our library and will remain in place until after our Multicultural Night in a couple of months.)

**Today is MLK Day!**
Hello, parents! It may seem that we are off today due to the weather but it was just a perfectly timed snow day! Our school is actually closed today in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

I wanted to share the following as we reflect on his life’s work… it was part of a speech he gave to a junior high (middle) school, in 1967.

“Don’t allow anybody to make you feel that you’re nobody,” King told the students. “Always feel that you count. Always feel that you have worth, and always feel that your life has ultimate significance.”

I hope your student always feels valued on our campus! And I hope you are all staying warm today! ❄️

Don’t forget that our next PTA meeting will be held on Feb 6th, at 530pm, and you’re all invited! 🧡

*1. Reflections*
If your student is participating in this year’s art program, tomorrow is the deadline for submissions! We can’t wait to see how talented and creative our students were this year!

*2. Plastic Bag Recycling*
Our Environmental Chair, Jennie Bolduc, is working with FISD in this year’s push to recycle plastic bags! You have until Friday to bring in as many bags as you want - let’s make Lawler the winning school!

*3. Book Fair is next week!*

A final thank you to all who supported this year’s fundraiser, Lawler Land. We reached our goal and our campus and top students will be celebrating this Friday! Special shout out to DaSaan Taylor (6th grade) who was the #1 student in the entire school!! And also to the 6th grade class who was the top grade. Great job, everyone!

Well, parents, we did it and we did it well!! Lawler Land was a fun event for your students and a successful fundraiser for the school - we surpassed our goal! Yay! 🥳

I would like to take a moment to thank my entire board and Holly Dunn, this year’s fundraising chair. But most of all I want to *thank you for your support* and for believing in the plans we have this year for our school. ☺️

The fundraising period actually ends on Monday night for those of us still needing to make a last minute donation. So next week, we will announce all the winners and celebrate their hard work! 💪🏻

**Lawler Land Update:*
Parents, in approx 40 hours, the PTA will be kicking off this year’s fundraiser, Lawler Land. We are looking forward to rewarding all the students that have supported this event!

Did you know that every year the PTA offers 9 scholarships to a student that wishes to attend but is financially unable to do so? It’s true. You may look at our community and think we don’t fit that need but no one is safe from a chronic sickness, job layoffs or family emergencies. The PTA understands and we are happy to help! We trust our families and not only are fundraising scholarships awarded on an honor system, we don’t even know which student is benefiting from them. It is anonymous and privately handled through the school. Our only goal is making sure all students have the same opportunity and school experience. I’m very proud of that and I hope you are, too.

This bit of information leads me to one of the items we are fundraising for - the back door branding of our school! Yes, our school is new and beautiful but we live in a world that’s ever changing and can never be safe enough for our kids! When we branded the front and side doors with our cool Lawler designs, last year, we immediately saw the added security and safety that was added to our campus. But there are still pockets of doors that we’d like to further enhance both aesthetically and with safety in mind. Please know a big part of your donation will go towards this goal!

I’m attaching a fundraising update for you to review! We still have a ways to go to reach our goal and less than 30% of our school is participating in our efforts that benefit 100% of our campus.

Also, let’s congratulate our current Super Star donors! These 13 students have raised over $150 each towards our school. Great job! 👏🏻

Once again, shout out to 6th graders for setting such a great example and an extra big cheer for Team Huchthausen-8 for being the current class leader. Great job! 🥳

And finally, I once again encourage you to join us! It never fails, every year, a student wants to attend the event but is unable to bc they missed the deadline to sign up! I also would like to challenge everyone who’s signed up to see how much more you can raise for Lawler in the next couple of days! *An extra $10 , $20 or more all goes towards making sure we reach our fundraising goal!*

*Lawler Land Fundraising Updates!*
Hello, parents! Some info to share as we get closer to our fundraising event - Lawler Land!! - taking place this Friday, 10/20! 🍭

First, please join me in congratulating the following students who won today’s candy bundle! Thank you for your support, Advik Chawla (6th), Abigail Thomas (7th) and Grant Slayton (8th)! 👏🏻

Secondly, I wanted to share how we are doing! With a fundraising goal of $20k, we are almost halfway there! 6th grade is still in the lead followed by 8th grade and then 7th grade. And if your student is part of Team Smolka-6, congrats! They currently are the classroom leaders for the entire school. Yay! 🥳

And finally, I’d like to share where our fundraising dollars will be going this year! If I’m being honest, we are not seeing the support this year that we have seen in the past or even other schools are raising now. Wester MS, down the street from us, raised $35k for their campus last week. Our ask of $20k is not out of line and in fact, it’s quite conservative. Please take a look at the attached chart and think about what a great year we all want our students to have.

Tomorrow, the PTA will be officially opening this year’s loot store. This program alone will take a few thousand dollars to properly run. Yes, our school is run by amazing and selfless volunteers but it’s your financial support that allows for Lawler to be the great school that it is!

The PTA will be on campus this week collecting cash donations from your student! Or if easier, you can quickly donate online! Whatever is easiest for you!

Tomorrow’s prize incentive will be a fast-food bundle and on Friday, we’ll announce who our grand prize winner is! The more you donate, the more chances to win!! 🧡

**LawlerLand is THIS coming Friday!**

Lawler land update: we have 38 students registered and they have raised $2,555! We’ve got a long way to go to our $20,000 goal but with your support we can get there! As a reminder, the first 100 students to register will earn an extra raffle ticket.

The grade level who has received the most donations by midnight this Thursday (Oct 12th) will earn technology during lunch on Friday, October 13th so be sure to get those donations in! Currently 8th grade is in the lead with $1385 raised.
