Day 6 Thursday.

We had a great last day in San Marcos! In total we served 1300 medical patients, including 125 dental patients. While the days were long, the reward was great.

We also saw the benefit of the relationships that we built in San Marcos since 2017. In 2018 we helped put the roof on a house of a man who had recently lost his wife and had five girls. He came back this year and was so thankful, letting us know that was life changed for his family. We get the opportunity to help again by providing seeds for him to plant in order to harvest and use as income.

In 2018 we came alongside with the Iglesia Evangelica Poder de Dios in Colomoncagua to help them build church that would allow them to grow. They were meeting in the sawmill and with the help of first Frisco we provided a new church facility.

This year we are partnering with Iglesia Bautista Rey de Gloria to provide their church with new doors and bars on the windows. These acts of service while they seem small to us, the lasting impact on the church and San Marcos community at large has everlasting ripples.

Finally , we are able to help Cristiano, who was is 9 years old and diagnosed with bone cancer having had his leg amputated recently. We are helping the family with doctor appointments and hotel for ongoing treatment and check ups in Tegucigalpa which is a 6 hour bus ride.

Thank you for your financial and prayer support of those going on the mission trip and for the ministry as a whole. We are looking forward to 2025 and have set next years trip for July 12-19, 2025.

Day 5 Wednesday

We had a great day, taking care of 400+ people. As we progress through the week, the people that are coming to the clinic are coming from even farther locations, some walking three plus hours to get to see us. With San Marcus being one of the poorest areas within Honduras, those coming later in the week are the poorest of the poor.

While the mission trip provides immediate help with medicine and diagnosis, we always have opportunities presented to help with more acute or specialized care. This week we are helping a number of individuals who need more expert care or diagnosis from a hospital. The closest large hospital is in San Pedro Sula, which is an approximate 4 1/2 hour bus ride along with the associated cost. What a privilege to be able to come alongside those with the greatest need and help them and their families with their physical and spiritual needs.

Day 4 Tuesday continued….

The reel said it all….people lined up waiting for us, with many walking over 3 hours. It was an amazing effort by everyone to get them all through medical and dental. Dental saw around 50 patients with medical/pharmacy seeing 300 plus. There were a couple of minor surgeries performed along with typical ailments. We handed out backpacks provided through a government grant and will hand out more today.

So many opportunities to minister to the physical and most importantly the spiritual needs of the community.

Day 3 Monday. We had a great first day getting everything in order. We saw 185 patients today. So many stories of need and thankful we are here to provide help and hope.

Day 2 - Sunday we loaded up and headed to San Marcos to setup of the clinic…there have been so many improvements made to the village and we spent about 4 1/2 hours getting everything setups. Very thankful the rain held off until we had all the supplies unloaded and setup. We are looking forward to heading out on Monday to serve. Thank you for all of your prayers!

Got through immigration with everything intact which is always a Praise God moment ( a couple of us had our bags searched and were temporarily detained, but nothing was confiscated). Loaded the box truck with all of the supplies for the week and are now headed to eat. Great restaurant overlooking Lake Yojoa with some fish and chicken. After a night of little sleep, long travel and hard working day, everyone will sleep well. On Sunday we will hit early and drive up to San Manuel de Sierra and set up the entire clinic in prep for the Monday clinic.

Happy Saturday everyone. We are headed back to Honduras after 4 years and very excited to again serve the community of San Marcos de Sierra. We appreciate your prayers for safe travels, ease at customs and the impact on the individuals we will serve.
