Starting to go through pics from the student show. This is and only one of her amazing pieces. I’ll be posting the students work when I get good shots.

My students swept a bunch of awards last night. What an incredible group of artists. Their work is absolutely mind blowing. And this round we really focused on presentation. Go see it while it’s up! More pics once I can sit down for a minute.
We had a spontaneous victory dinner after. I haven’t had that much fun in a bit.
It really is a privilege that these people let me in their lives for a little while.

Mixed media demo for my advanced illustration class. I always like to push media exploration in my illustration classes.
Some of the best pieces in the class have been sculpted etc. Illustration isn’t just flat painted imagery.
The class this semester is on fire. I expect a lot but they keep exceeding expectations.
A class doesn’t mean anything without amazing students.

Plein air trip with Walt Disney Feature Animation yesterday. We lucked out and got great weather. Really great group of people.

Made it to “The Godfathers” show in Grass Valley. It’s really rare to see originals like this. Rick Griffin was a big deal to me (along with Crumb, Shelton, the San Francisco poster artists etc.). I love seeing Rick Griffin’s inks. Get here if you can. This doesn’t happen very often. And I love this town, I come here on road trips a lot. It’s a win win!

Busy week. Thursday plein air painting with Walt Disney Feature Animation, Friday my animal drawing class hit the OC zoo and Saturday we sketched at Olvera Street and Philippe’s.
From there onto a road/painting trip.

Me and a few of the Dot Walkers made it out to in Glendale for book release party. A good time was had by all. Head over to Emmanuel’s feed and get his new book! It’s amazing! Also thanks for turning me onto a great little bookstore.

It’s nice to find artists/writers with their own point of view and this is just that. Super fun visually.
