Wishing our fearless leader a very Happy Birthday! We hope he is having the best time of his life in his favorite spot 🇫🇷
Today is Juneteenth- a federal holiday representing justice and freedom for Black Americans. This day also serves as an opportunity for everyone to educate themselves and stay informed on the ongoing effects of trauma caused by slavery.
It is important to encourage anyone and everyone to uplift Black voices in mental health. We promote mental health equity always and stand in support for all.
Healing is not linear, but it is possible. Small steps can still lead to big progress in mental health, and we are here to help you take those first steps towards the happiness and peace of mind that you deserve.

Your mental health matters more than any external validation. Remember that it is okay to seek help, and that will only make you stronger.
In addition to June being Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, it is also PTSD Awareness Month.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is a mental condition that results from either experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event. Traumatic events can include assault, combat, serious accidents, or a natural disaster. According to the National Institutes of Health, symptoms may include nightmares, uncontrollable thoughts about the event, emotional flashbacks, and avoidance of distressing memories.
It is important not just this month, but every month to understand PTSD, raise awareness, and find support or be someone's support.
June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month 🧠
According to Mental Health America, the US male population is 151,781,326 while the average for males affected by depression per year is 6 million. Depression is just 1 of the 5 main mental health problems affecting men, with the other 4 being anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and psychosis or schizophrenia.
Unfortunately, there is still a large stigma around men’s mental health. This results in many men not seeking treatment. Asking for help is not weak, in fact it takes so much strength to do so.
Even though May is almost over, let’s not forget that it is still ; but when it does come to a close, we must keep the momentum going. You're not alone and help is available. Our commitment to openly discuss and prioritize the importance of mental health is year round.

"Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it." –Unknown.
On this day, we honor the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country and paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We will never know them all, but we certainly owe them all.
The sun is already out full force this time of year, and it is only going to get stronger with summer fast approaching. It is essential to be educated on the importance of sun protection year round and especially now.

The first steps to improving your mental health may have to be small ones, and that's okay. Those baby steps may look like taking a screen break, practicing positive affirmations, going for more walks outside, or writing down the people/things that you're thankful for. Small steps like these can lead to big, exciting changes!

⭐️Nurse Spotlight⭐️
Tanzeem M, RN:
Tanzeem has been a vital part of both Sarkis Family Psychiatry and Sarkis Clinical Trials. At Clinical Trials, Tanzeem was a Clinical Research Coordinator and worked on multiple studies. After starting her family and finishing nursing school, Tanzeem returned to Sarkis Family Psychiatry as an office nurse. She is responsible for triaging phone calls and working directly with providers to provide effective care for patients. She helps with vitals and Spravato treatments too. While she is moving out of state and today is her last day, we appreciate Tanzeem for bringing a light atmosphere and funny conversations to our work space.
Thank you Tanzeem! We will all miss you, and we wish you the best in your exciting new journey!💙

As a Clinical Research Coordinator, Shelby plays an important role at Sarkis Clinical Trials. Shelby is responsible for carrying out multiple tasks on multiple studies at once. She has been described by the providers and office staff as always willing to help, knowledgeable in her role, compassionate, and dependable. Study patients love her and so does our team. We appreciate Shelby and her willingness to show up everyday and give 100%.
Thank you Shelby!💙

Donna H, LPN:
Coming onboard with Dr. Sarkis in 1992, Ms. Donna was our first employee and has seen/heard/done it all. The providers and office staff are most thankful for her kindness, patience, willingness to teach, her love of ice cream, her warm smile, and her crazy ability to know what everyone is thinking and feeling. Although she has partially retired, we appreciate her everyday.
Thank you Ms. Donna!💙

Honesty Day is celebrated every year on April 30th. This national holiday encourages everyone to be truthful and open in all aspects of life.
Honesty is a core value often overlooked, but crucial for trust and integrity in relationships, work, and self-reflection. By embracing honesty, we empower ourselves to live authentically and build stronger connections with others. This practice also positively impacts our mental health.
This date, April 30th, also serves as a counterbalance to April Fools’ Day, a day known for jokes and deception.
