We’re getting a Makerbot! - Workshop88 At our meeting on June 20th, we learned that Makerbot Industries was having a special sale on their last run of the Cupcake CNC machines. We decided to take the plunge and have one on order! As excited as we are to be getting our Makerbot, we are still looking for donations from the membership
Workshop 88 is located at 481 N Main St. REAR Building Unit B, in downtown Glen Ellyn, IL.
Enter through the parking lot off Pennsylvania Ave, behind A Toda Madre. Look for the tall pole with the Workshop88 sign and walk towards it to find the entrance.
If you want to learn more about Workshop 88, please stop by on a Thursday night for our weekly open house from 7-9pm.
Come see this LED fireworks display at our next open house (Thursday June 22 and/or June 29). Rachel Hellenga put this together for the recent Brickworld Chicago Convention in Schaumburg with help from Jim (custom cable and endless technical support), Mace (animation support), Christine and Scott (LEGO assembly), and Gail (last-minute project management).
These LED matrix panels feature LEDs placed 4mm apart (4mm pich), so they align with the dimensions of 8mm LEGO bricks. It was quick work to build the LED panels into a LEGO frame.

Brickworld Chicago hosted a LEGO fan convention this weekend, and the after-hours World of Lights featured the biggest collection of lightup LEGO creations found anywhere in the US. Stop by Workshop 88 on Thursday June 22 or Thursday June 29 between 7-9PM to see Brickworld displays that Rachel Hellenga built at Workshop 88.
