Yá’át’ééh Kiddos! Lego build those Navajo skills! The Phoenix Indian Center will be hosting a summer session of Beginning Navajo Language. We are seeking dedicated children and youth (0-18 years of age) to register for this 6-week virtual course. Participants are encouraged to attend 10 or more of the 12 classes. Classes will be held twice a week via Zoom from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. The instructor for this series is Albert Chase. Space is limited to 50 participants. The Phoenix Indian Center is offering virtual and in-person internships at no cost to interested businesses! Interns are High School Juniors & Seniors with their time being paid for by the Phoenix Indian Center. Interns receive Job Readiness Training before starting their internships; Internships are completed during a 3-week time period from June 03 through June 28, 2024. Interns work up to 40 hours weekly. To our Indigenous community members: We are looking for locals to be part of our new photo campaigns rolling out this year! We are looking for Native folx from all tribal affiliations, backgrounds, ages (youth to elders), genders, and body types. Submit your application today: Professional modeling experience is not required! We encourage people who have both traditional tribal clothing and/or regalia to apply to be part of this photo shoot.

We ask that you please fully commit to completing the photo shoot scheduled from 9 AM - 1PM MST on Sunday, April 21. We will offer a $50 gift card and lunch will be provided as compensation.

Discover moccasin-making with Bryan Roessel! In this class, young participants will have the opportunity to explore the art of crafting traditional Native American moccasins. The course will provide hands-on instruction in selecting materials like leather, beads, and thread, while delving into various moccasin styles, their cultural significance, and design elements. By the end of the workshop, participants will create their very own pair of moccasins. Even better, this workshop is completely FREE, but spaces are limited. Don't miss out – apply now for this class, open to youths (ages 12-25), and those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Must attend all sessions via Zoom and Gmail for Google Classroom. ASU West Campus Pow Wow tomorrow!

Happening Saturday: The 20th Annual Veteran’s Pow Wow will be held at ASU’s West Campus from 11 AM - 7 PM. Gourd Dance starts at 11:30AM and 5:30 PM and Grand Entry will be 1 PM & 7 PM. A Veterans Salute To Service is scheduled at 2 PM. Stop by this free, outdoors event to check out the food trucks, vendor market and dancing!

Each day is an opportunity for your indigenous students to showcase and share their culture with your school and community.

• Monday, 11/13: Wear red or orange- wear red to bring awareness to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People/Women (MMIP/MMIW) amongst American Indian and Alaskan women & wear orange for Truth and Reconciliation about the Indian residential school system. • Tuesday, 11/14: Wear your Native bling! Wear your favorite jewelry and/or accessories.
• Wednesday, 11/15: Rock Your Mocs! Wear your moccasins, tell your class and school about your moccasins, and what moccasins mean to each of your tribal nations.
• Thursday, 11/16: Wear your Native tees- Break out and wear your native/indigenous designed tees.
• Friday, 11/17: Traditional Dress Day- Wear your traditional outfit. Indigenous tribes/nations wear their traditional attire for various reasons and occasions.
