We are so proud of OSBI artists Stephanie and Justin for being featured at the National Disability Rights Network conference, an in-person conference for disability rights advocates seeking more in-depth, practical, skills-based training. The artists were able to network with fellow artists, answer questions about their work, as well as sell their artwork! Today we celebrate and recognize the anniversary of the day that African Americans in Texas first learned of the Emancipation Proclamation, more than two years after it was initially issued. Today, we hope that as a community we will listen to black voices, educate ourselves and learn from our country’s history so that we may always move forward in progress! Join us this Friday to welcome special hockey teams from around the country! We’re kicking off The Arizona Cactus Cup Special Hockey Tournament with free games and fun contests! OSBI, One Step Sharks and One Step Coyotes are hosting at the amazing newly curated Bellair Golf Park (43rd Ave. and Bell Rd.) 6 pm - 9 pm. This is a laid-back evening with good company, fun-free games, activities, and contests! We have incredible prizes from our friends and sponsors at Behind The Mask and Poler Stuff Poler Portland camping gear! American Special Hockey Association and the AZ Coyotes Community team (Coyotes Hockey Development) will be out in support of the occasion and inclusion! Mikey's League will be there helping to run the festivities! No entry fee - All are welcome! The only cost is if you would like to get down on the city’s best BBQ with our friends at Skinny's BBQ LLC food truck! See you there as we prepare for an exciting weekend of inclusive tournament hockey at AZ ICE Peoria!

Sunday’s 2023 Showcase Festival at Glendale Heroes Regional Park was a blast thanks to everyone coming together, in a big way! It was wonderful to see our community unite in such impactful numbers to support the creativity and talents of our OSBI members. We have missed our OSBI performances, it was fantastic seeing our guys get out in front of the crowd and share their artistic abilities! The Civitan Foundation, Inc.'s band, Skyscraper shared the stage and rocked it, they were awesome! We have so many wonderful individuals and organizations to thank! Our volunteers, both external and OSBI staff alike, were invaluable; we couldn’t have pulled it off without your help, thank you! Congrats to the staff and incredible performers of the OSBI Music Program, , and . The Chefs on a Mission brought the heat, as always crafting and serving devious meals! It was excellent to have Mikey's League with us sharing and running their super-fun ball hockey rink! We are thrilled about the upcoming Summer Music Therapy Classes! Thanks to a generous grant from the West Valley Mavericks Foundation, One Step Beyond and Higher Octave Healing-ORG are teaming up this summer to provide music therapy classes at each Arizona OSBI campus. Registration for these classes will be open soon so stay tuned!

Whether it's expressing themselves through ceramics, mixed media, or drawing, the art rooms at One Step Beyond are safe spaces for our artists to explore, create, and inspire. To volunteer with One Step Beyond during a super fun event, CLICK the LINK below. We are looking for a few extra volunteers to help out during our Showcase Festival on May 7th! We will have bands and dance performances all day, and carnival-style games, interactive art, and activities for all ages! Volunteers will help with things like set-up, selling merchandise, selling food and activity tickets, running carnival game booths, and clean-up.

Shifts are as follows:
Morning Set-Up: 7 am - 10 am
During the Event: 10 am-1 pm
Afternoon Clean Up 1 pm-3 pm
