Zen Wellness & Nutrition
25+ years in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I also offer Nutrition Coaching: for healthy eating!
Unless we give intention to our health, our body will begin to “talk back” in several ways, including gut issues, muscle strain, joint aches, poor sleep, emotional outbursts, sugar cravings, weight gain/weight loss, poor mental focus to only name a few.
Find out your “WHY” and go through these steps to get yourself on track (or back in track).
Massage work and nutritional support are a few things I can offer, but it’s your wellness journey, so take the time to listen to your body, make a plan and dive in! 👐🪷🙏🏻
Don’t forget moms AND dads need some time to de stress and what better way than therapeutic bodywork. 🙏🏻
Father’s Day is June 16!
We don’t get as much of this crucial mineral in modern day foods today as our ancestors did. Keep check for any of these chronic problems. Maybe?🤔
Truth. While doing your best to feed the body with nutritious whole foods and getting movement into your day is the goal, accepting yourself as you are TODAY is key. Keep striving to improve your health, while loving the body you have now, because you know what? It’s the only one you get in this lifetime. Ebb and flow, ups and downs, highs and lows. This is the balance of life. ☯️🙏🏻🪷⚖️.

Static Cupping (cups remaining in place vs sliding or popping them off the skin) is a wonderful way to loosen up a troubled area. We have all seen professional athletes with those “crazy circle marks” on their skin, yah?
This is not a practice only for the elite, it is very affordable and safe for almost anyone. The dark red to purple marks are made when the suction of the cup draws the skin and surrounding tissue up, creating an area for the blood to temporarily remain. These suctioned areas disrupt the fascia, signaling the body to bring healing. The red circles may take up to a week to disappear and is a very normal response. When they are removed, the areas will feel much freer and experience increased range of motion .
A practitioner with experience will know how many and where to place the cups and will know how much to draw up so it is not painful. Maybe a bit uncomfortable, but not painful. Give it a try 🪷🤲

Posting an excellent reminder article for all us massage/body workers out there about proper posture and body mechanics. This is good education for clients to know what we do in a session as well. We need to remember to work smartly so we can stay in this industry for a long career. 🪷

Have you ever really taken a long look at the anatomy of your muscles? Shoulder, neck, spinals, a complicated array of tissue that works remarkably well together in a big massive puzzle we call our body.
We may wonder why our neck always hurts or the low back is always screaming in pain, but this is the body’s way of keeping us moving. It adapted and this is our survival technique.
Massage and bodywork allows the body to relax, realign and repair so that you can keep moving! Amazing, isn’t it? 🪷

My self care includes cupping sometimes. With a chronic knee injury, cupping brings added blood flow to the area and loosens fascial tissue. An easy add-on to any session as well! I love the marks they leave for a few days 😌.
I know there are days when life has us feeling down, but then upon reflection and a more intentional look, we can see life smiling and giving comfort. Take time to breath and reboot for tomorrow is another day 🪷

Know the difference when you are feeling the need for bodywork. Are you just wanting a general booster to help keep you emotionally and physically on top of things? Or are you more feeling like you need to resolve an ongoing ache/pain, mental fatigue or sadness? Knowing the difference will help keep you focused and enhance your intuition 🙏🏻🧘🏼♀️🤲

Know the signs of burnout. Whether it’s in your job/profession or life’s stressors. It is so important to take care of your emotional and physical self. Getting bodywork will bring down the stress hormones, calm the nerves, move your lymphatics and remind your muscles how it feels to stretch and have blood flow.
I’m taking new clients, so if you are in the Grand Rapids area, consider booking a session with me and get some well deserved zen time. 🧘🏼♀️
