It's National check your pet's Microchip Day. Make sure your pet's microchip information if up to date.
Fleas can be annoying especially if your cat has a flea allergy. Cats can be allergic to the flea saliva causing the skin to overreact and cause intense itching. This can cause red, crusty bumps on the skin where the cat has been bit, but it will also cause your cat to scratch. When cats start scratching, they can cause very severe skin lesions quickly, due to their sharp claws. These lesions are then at risk for secondary bacterial infection. It is important to seek veterinary care if you think your cat has a flea allergy.

Fun Fact Friday: Do you know the signs of Diabetes in cats?
Like humans, cats can develop diabetes. Diabetes mellitus is a condition in which the body cannot properly produce or respond to the hormone insulin. This results in elevated levels of the sugar glucose in the blood, which is the main source of energy for the body. The two most common signs of diabetes noticed by owners at home are weight loss despite a good appetite and increased thirst and urination.

Cats rely on their sense of smell to assess their environment. Your cat will mark their territory by rubbing their face and body, leaving pheromones to create a sense of security. Learn more about creating a secure environment for your cat at https://bit.ly/2RFmBT7.

Happy Thursday!
Your cat may have litter box trouble for any number of reasons, including medical problems, an aversion to the litter box, or a preference for urinating or defecating in places outside the box.
A common and frustrating problem, inappropriate elimination can be difficult to control. A full resolution depends on early intervention, followed by detective work to determine the cause of the behavior, and time and effort on your part to solve the problem. In partnership with veterinarians, both cats and the people who love them can live in harmony and good health.
