👀Debunking Arthritis👀
❇️Too often we believe because we have arthritis we can’t be as active as we used to be.
❇️This is just not true. It just means we need to tune up our body for where we currently are.
❇️Spending a little more time to work on mobility and strength will go a long way to keep doing what you love.

🚫 Myth Busting: No Pain, No Gain 🚫
1️⃣ Listen to Your Body ✏️: Pay attention to signals of discomfort versus actual pain. Is it discomfort from your muscles after a hard workout? Or is there pain limiting your performance or daily life movements?
2️⃣ Consistency is 🔑 : Consistency in your program at appropriate and varying intensities will give you the best possible results
3️⃣ Progressive loading 📈: Finding where your body is right now and building tolerance and resiliency to return stronger than before
4️⃣ Recovery: Our bodies need time to heal and rebuild. The longer an injury has been lingering, the longer it may need to recover.

Old myths fall hard.
This study from 2017 looked at over 114,000 people (wow), they found that only 3.5% of recreational runners had hip or knee arthritis, compared to non-runners whose rate was 10.2%!
Common causes for knee pain
▶️Increasing your mileage too quickly may be the most common thing I see
▶️Muscle weakness - calfs, glutes, quad - can lead to changes in form and extra stress where you don’t want it

The truth is our backs are strong, they’ve been strong, and will continue to be strong. Somewhere along the line they have gotten a bad rap and we’ve been told we shouldn’t do x, y, or z because it’s not good for us.
Reality is movement is good, sometimes we need to modify activities to get rid of pain, other times we need to build muscle to meet the demands of our job or task.
No matter the case treating back pain is not a guessing game, and you want someone who specializes in it, and that is what I’m here for. Schedule a free consult with the link in my bio and let’s tackle this together.

One of the most common questions we get is “do I need to see a doctor before seeing you?” You DO NOT.
Our training allows us to be direct-care providers. We go through a full evaluation and movement assessment; if we believe we can help you we are good to go. If we think you should see a doctor before starting physical therapy we will get you with the right provider.
