Fortis Physical Therapy and Pelvic Health
Fitness forward pelvic PT serving Greenville and the upstate. Located at 430 Woodruff Rd Suite 325 by appointment only
We work with women across the lifespan to reduce leakage, prolapse, ab separation and get you back to the activities you love most! At Fortis Physical Therapy and Pelvic Health, we empower your healing journey with personalized physical therapy and pelvic health services. As a mobile physical therapist serving Greenville, SC, and surrounding areas, we bring our expertise right to your doorstep, en
Unsure about the difference between in-network PT and out of network? There are definitely pros and cons to both, but after years of working in the in-network sphere, I realized care truly was not up to par. Too often, insurance would not cover the care of people who needed it most, or would limit services provided. I have seen better results with patients in the OON sector and I believe a large part of this is that we are truly a team and they’re invested in their care!
However, this is not possible for everyone, and that is okay! Luckily we have options!! I’m a firm believer in finding the right fit for you!
Reasons I love being OON
- We are a team and YOU are at the center, not your insurance company
- We make a plan of care that works optimally with your budget, schedule, and clinical needs
- Complete transparency! You know what each visit costs and can better plan without any surprise bills
- We are not limited in treatment strategies or techniques because of reimbursement, so we truly can give optimal care!

Gotta love it! Pain and leaks are not normal and it’s so frustrating when providers don’t encourage, empower, or educate patients on how to actually successfully resolve with whatever they’re dealing with. Do these sound familiar? Sound off in the comments if you’ve heard one of these before!
Happy 4th of July! Fortis will be closed today and tomorrow in honor of Independence Day and for a brief summer break. I hope you have a safe and happy holiday! 🎇🇺🇸

It’s our first birthday!!
On this day one year ago, Fortis was officially recognized by the city of Greenville as a business and was ready to accept patients (which we did about 3 days later)!
Words cannot express how much this first year has meant to me. I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported me in any way this year! To my family and friends who have shown me so much love and encouragement, your kindness and support has been so crucial to this last year. To my patients who have trusted me in their care, I could not do what I love without you and I am eternally grateful for every single one of you. Most importantly, to God, who has guided me, comforted me, given me strength, and shown me what steps to take throughout this journey, none of this is for me but for You.
I cannot wait to see where year 2 takes all of us! Thank you from the bottom of my heart🤍
I am so excited to team up with for an incredible evening to discuss all things postpartum! April is an incredible doula who specializes (and thrives😍👏🏻) in the postpartum space. She’s a mom and a grandma and absolutely incredible!
We are going to talk about how to build your village, even if that seems daunting, including some resources that are amazing. We’ll talk about what you may expect good and difficult in the postpartum period. We’ll chat about how to reduce risk of pelvic floor dysfunction postpartum and also how to help if things change for the worse.
We’re so excited to spend a jam-packed hour with y’all!! Goodie bags will be available with fun freebies!

We all have a beautiful story and I hope you have the opportunity (or make the opportunity) to share yours! Remember, the world needs you here for this time and needs you to be who you were made to be✨
No matter how you spend your days, what you’ve been through, or where you intend to go, you have a story to tell the world and I am proud of you🤍
🤔Wait, PT can treat menopause? Answer below if this was surprising!
Yup. Well, at least the symptoms! Perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause can be a super fun phase of a woman’s life, said no woman ever. When I was younger, I thought menopause was just hot flashes, hormonal changes, and ceasing having a period, but it is so much more!
What might you experience?
🥵 Hot flashes and night sweats
🌵 V@g i nal dryness or generalized dry skin
⛔️ Pain with intimacy (dyspareunia)
😔 Depression or anxiety
🥱 Insomnia
💧 Incontinence or prolapse symptoms
💇♀️ Hair loss
⚖️ Weight changes
Pelvic PT can come in and address some of these issues! Incontinence or prolapse or maybe even things you’ve dealt with your entire adult life that you were told were normal (they’re not)? We can work to improve mobility and strength of the muscles of both the pelvic floor and surrounding areas! Dryness, pain with intimacy, or atrophy of the tissue down there? Strengthening/mobility work (depending on your needs) + a v@g i nal moisturizer or estrogen cream may be beneficial. So on and so on!
Curious if what you’re experiencing is normal or treatable? Comment below or shoot us a DM! We’d love to help!📨
📣Super pumped to announce an amazing collaboration with and ! We’re so excited for an evening filled with fun, education, and practical application all in a beautiful Pilates studio with a candlelit dinner to celebrate International Women’s Day!

“It hurts when my partner and I get it on...I’m scared it is going to impact our relationship!” “I don’t want to hurt my partner by not having seggs, but this is really painful for me.”
Sound familiar? Don’t panic! Luckily there are many strategies and treatment options to make a fun activity fun again.
Dyspareunia is medical lingo for pain with intimacy and is a common symptom seen in pelvic health. It may be associated with vaginismus as well
Dyspareunia is a common short term symptom in 40-50% of postpartum mamas, but can be seen in anyone experiencing insertion really. Reminder though that common is NOT normal!! Painful seggs can be incredibly difficult for both you and your partner and it is so important for you to know there is help. Seggs should not be painful and if you are experiencing pain, DM me or call so we can chat. Because...GOOD NEWS! We can address it and you do not have to live with it.
Through a thorough evaluation and conversation we can establish a plan catered towards you. Together, we will work on methods to improve your tolerance for wherever and however that pain occurs and get you back to enjoying intimacy.
🍾Happy New Year Fortis fam!🍾

I look back on 2023 fondly, but look forward with excitement and hope for all 2024 may bring🥂

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!🍾
Worried about peeing in your pants at a Christmas or holiday party? 🥴🎄
That would definitely put my tinsel in a tangle🎅🏻! Here are 5 tips to help reduce your risk of having wet pants this Christmas season:
💦 Know your limits - We don’t want just in case pees, so know your time limits and the think through the likelihood that an urge is real. General rule of thumb, is if it’s at least a moderate urge + you haven’t used the bathroom recently and/or you haven’t drunk a lot quickly, then you may actually need to go.
💦 Avoid (or at least minimize or dilute) bladder irritants - Bladder irritants can increase urgency and frequency and therefore leaking.
💦 Stay hydrated consistently - We want hydration always not just for a few days
💦 Get moving - Try to stick with your exercise routine or at least a daily walk!
💦 Calm the system down - Mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, prayer, and mobility can all be great ways to calm the nervous system in a time that may feel a bit extra stressful.
This season can bring a mixture of emotions, whether that is joy, grief, loneliness, love, stress, or any other emotion you may be feeling. These feelings are so valid and are important to process however you need to. These tips can at least help minimize any embarrassment you may feel if you’ve been struggling with pelvic floor dysfunction. Remember, it is never too late to help a pelvic floor in need of extra support! 🏃🏾♀️
Wanting to get back to jumping on a trampoline with your kids, running on your favorite trail, or wearing the light colored leggings in the gym? Like, share, comment, or save this post! My DMs are always open for any and all questions😊
“If I just move more, I’ll fix my problems”; “If I simply ate better, I would never have any concerns”🥴
Thoughts like this, while in a very small aspect have some truth (nutrition and exercise are important), they leave out so much nuance of the body. The truth is that the body is all connected; the health of your nutrition and gut influence the health of your hormones and muscles.💪🏽 Every system of the body is in constant communication through the nervous system. The gut, hormones, brain, bones, muscles, and more are all working together to try and maintain homeostasis (balance) in the body.
You may think the “gut” is just a trendy topic, but the truth is your nutritional intake🥗 and overall gut health does play a big role in how the body functions. Stress may deplete good bacteria in the gut, sending stress signals to other areas as well. Movement can modulate stress and improve endocrine health, but in the same way, nutrition can improve the gut’s signaling and overall functioning. But there is so much more to the body than just these two things.
You may have heard “you can’t out run a poor diet” 🏃🏼♀️ and while that is a bit simplistic and the body is more complicated than that, there is a semblance of truth in that the body truly needs adequate fuel and adequate movement to regulate itself optimally. However, in order to optimize these, your body needs good 💤 . We need to work over time to improve all aspects of health: mentally, spiritually, and physically.
The good news is, we address all of these in pelvic health (and general PT). When getting to the root cause of your pain, muscle tightness, fatigue, or injuries, we must look at how the tissue is functioning as well as how is your sleep quality, nutritional intake, mental health, mind-body connection, and more to truly find the solution to your symptoms. 🧘🏾♀️
📤Share this with a friend! Especially if you happen to know they are dealing with any of the above concerns!
As always feel free to DM with any questions😊
Have you ever tried to do something without a plan? It probably didn’t go so smoothly. Here’s the thing, plans are good, but methods are even better. Methods are shown time and time again to be effective. 📈
Here at Fortis, we approach each patient and client journey with not only an individualized plan, but an effective method! So, what is Fortis’ method?
✨The Method✨
▪️Mobilize - Muscles and joints need full range of motion in order to generate necessary force for functional movements. move effectively and functionally. During the first phase of our method, we work to ensure mobility is restored in all areas. At a deeper level, we are mobilizing each person to make a lasting change in their health and life
▪️Fortify - Now it’s time to put the body to work and build strength not only in the area of concern, but throughout the body to optimize each movement pattern. During this phase we are building resilience in the body and the mind to continue on the journey of improving health and wellness
▪️Empower - In the final phase of our method, we are working to return you to the activities you love most. Whether that is jumping on the trampoline with your kids, participating in workouts or activities you love most, or picking up your kid while running through the airport, this time is designed to build your confidence to face new challenges and continue to grow throughout your life💪🏻💪🏽💪🏿

Remember this info, save this post: Hydration is not just for athletes!
The common general recommendation is to consume half your body weight in oz of water (the National Academy of Medicine recommends at least 104 oz for male adults and 72 oz for female adults (80 oz if pregnant)...but it's a bit more complex than that!
💧Foods like watermelon, celery, or lettuce may have some hydration component
💧Coffee and tea (caffeinated) don't really hydrate you even though they use water
💧Your urine should be a pale yellow (not clear and not bright yellow - however some medications or foods may naturally change the color)
💧Urgency or frequency? It's important to stay hydrated to keep the bladder lining happy
💧Small sips throughout the day is better for hydrating you than chugging. Feeling extra dehydrated? Add electrolytes. My personal favorite is LMNT
Our body needs good hydration to help with energy, kidney health, bowel movements, and more! Going 0 to 100 can be problematic, so if you don't drink much water, increase gradually over time and see how you feel! 👉 Turn on post notifications so you don't miss out.
Have you gone through PT before, but not seen the results you want? Does that make you nervous to try again? 🤔
Remember PT is a profession, not a treatment style. Not every therapist will have the same approach, and thats okay!
Here at Fortis, we strive to provide the highest quality of care that is catered to your specific and unique needs. Come experience the Fortis difference, where clinicians and patients team up for individualized plans. Comment 'teamwork' if you value collaboration!
