SmartARTS had a fabulous week filled with collaborative learning between teaching artists and classroom teachers! Teaching teams prepared for a new year of art-integrated curriculum with brainstorming activities through a variety of art expressions. We also were thrilled to work with our guest presenter, The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta. We can't wait to see what these educators come up with for the 2024-2025 academic year! We are thankful for TD Bank and the SC Arts Commission who, along with our array of sponsors, make this program possible with our partner, Greenville County Schools. A special thank you to the Fine Arts Center for hosting us in such a beautiful facility. For more information about SmartARTS, visit https://www.greenvillearts.com/smartarts/.

We’re so proud of the kids at Beck International Academy📍. Beck is UNITY in our community!

Students in Mrs. Steller Grey’s 8th, 7th, & Adaptive Art classes collaborated together to create a NEW school mural at Beck. The process began with the discussion of “What is Unity?” Students conversed their opinions & then drew symbolic images that fit their created word bank. From there, scanned their sketches & collaged the final image that would become their mural. It was projected & drawn by students on a Monday & all week students have worked in small groups to paint, paint, paint! This mural was student-centered & student-made.

This residency with Adam Schrimmer & the was provided at no cost to the school. Follow along with us for even more community art in 2024!
