We enjoyed hosting Dr. Jamie Whitlock, Academic Specialist for Career and Technical Education, today at Hughes Academy. Dr. Whitlock visited our CTE classes and provided members of the leadership team insight on future possible course offerings and information on our main feeder high schools. 8th grade students led orientation for their classmates in the Media Center this week. Students can check out books, get Chromebook help, and buy and ID any day with a smart pass. They can get creative in the Makerspace on Fridays, too!

It’s a snack and candy store open at lunch on special Fridays. Students have the opportunity to purchase items on their way into lunch and can eat them during lunch. 🍪🍩🍭🍫🍬🧃

Extended Day and Battlefield Karate Class
If you have a student registered for our EDP (Extended Day Program) you are eligible to sign-up for our new Karate Program by the Battlefield Karate School.
EDP is currently accepting NEW students into the Program for full-time or part-time participation! Therefore, if you want your student involved in the Battlefield Karate School, you must register your student for EDP.
Hughes Academy offers an Extended Day Program (EDP). It begins at 3:45 pm and ends at 6:00 pm. Snacks, homework time, and playtime are offered. There is a $40.00 registration fee per family.

7th graders in Mr. Bidwell’s Spanish class practiced their introductory vocabulary rotating centers.
Students in Ms. Butler’s class learned about prime and composite numbers today.
Students in Mr. Rutzler’s 8th grade Science class completed a lab on inertia, acceleration, weight, and mass today. Students calculated net force in different situations.
Our 6th graders enjoy eating lunch outside on this beautiful day!
