NMCB SEVEN COMMANDING OFFICER UPDATE:

Isaac has been reduced from a Hurricane to a Tropical Storm; however, dangerous conditions still exist. Additionally, curfews are still in effect in many areas. NMCB SEVEN military personnel will phone-in muster to their chain of command tomorrow (Thursday, 30 August) prior to 0730. The Battalion will muster on base at usual time Friday, 31 August. Although Friday's are a normal PT day, we will not PT on Friday, 31 August. If there are any questions please contact your chain of command.

NMCB SEVEN Commanding Officer Message:

Everyone should continue to monitor the CBC Gulfport page as well as the local news for updates and information. A determination for muster of military personnel on Thursday will be made later today for either an on base muster or a phone-in muster. Additionally, liberty planned for the Labor Day weekend may be adjusted and the Battalion may muster on Base on Friday, 31 August. As soon as practical information on muster for tomorrow and Friday will be disseminated in order to allow everyone to plan accordingly. Everyone should continue to follow all Base and local authority orders and curfews. If any military or family members are in need of assistance please contact your chain of command or the NMCB-7 CDO at 228 224 7051.

Our decommissioning ceremony is still planned for Wednesday, 05 September. All families and friends of NMCB-7 are invited to attend.

HURRICANE ISAAC CDO UPDATE # 11 29 AUGUST

All NMCB 7 personnel please continue to monitor facebook throughout the day. Message traffic in regards to battalion musters, shelters, CBC base issues, etc will be posted as soon as they are received.

Also please continue to monitor the CBC Gulfport page for recent updates from the EOC (Emergency Operations Center). The EOC care line is still operationsl but hasnt provided a new update sonce 1430 yesterday. Stay informed and stay safe.

I will keep the communication flowing.

HURRICANE ISAAC CDO UPDATE # 10:

If wind speeds reach 50 MPH CBC will secure the Pass Road gate for all incoming and outgoing traffic. No further word coming out of the EOC onboard CBC at the moment. Have a Magnificent night ladies and gentlemen and stay safe.....

Any NMCB 7 service members/family members looking to utilize the shelter site at building 217 onboard CBC Gulfport be advised shuttle services stop at 2000L. For most recent CBC Gulfport updates please call 228-871-4777. Updates post every 4 hours and the next update is due on or about 1830L.

HURRICANE ISAAC CDO UPDATE # 8:

In response to my latest post ( # 7). Be advised if you are following the local mandatory evacuations report to CBC Gulfport through the Pass Road gate. Park your POV at the grinder across from NMCB 7 spaces and a shuttle bus will take you to building 217 for shelter.

We have not been approved to use our government travel cards for this evacuations. Building 217 shelter is free of charge for all NMCB 7 service members and their families.

Please read below message from the CO.

"You may have heard about mandatory evacuations in low lying areas.
These are local civil authority determinations and not a military
ordered evacuation. Therefore, the military will not fund evacuations
at this time. Everyone is encouraged to do what is needed to ensure
their and their family's safety."

HURRICANE ISAAC CDO UPDATE #7

CBC Gulfport recently made a post in response to mandatory evacuations for low lying areas in Harrison & Hancock counties, to include the towns of Bay St. Louis and Diamondhead. These are from local authorities and not the "green light" to evacuate and use your government travel cards. CBC CO has yet to make a decision on mandatory evacuations. Please stay in contact with this page as well as CBC's page for more updates.

Colmer Galley onboard CBC is closed for the duration of the storm. Any troops staying in the barracks be advised that MRE's have been delivered to your barracks. Not sure on locations but check with the barracks front desk and they will help you out. .

TS ISAAC CDO UPDATE #4:

-Harrison County officials have set a curfew starting 28 August at 1900 until 0700 29 August. Everyone residing in Harrison County is advised to stay off of all roadways during this curfew unless it is an emergency.

-All NMCB 7 service members are considered on administrative leave until directed otherwise by the EOC.

-There havent been any evacuations at this time and the use of your government travel card is STILL UNAUTHORIZED.

-For the most current updates be sure to call the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) help line at 228-871-4777.

This is the number I get my updates from so feel free to utilize it as well to stay informed on current information in regards to TS Isaac and CBC Gulfport. This number gives pre-recorded updates for service members as well as family members. Stay informed/stay safe!!!!!

TS ISAAC CDO UPDATES
-Wednesday will be a phone in muster for all NMCB 7 personnel. Company Commanders are due report accountability to CDO NLT 0745.
-Pass road gate will remain open for the duration of the storm for essential personnel.
-All NMCB 7 personnel currently onboard CBC are now in a duty status until directed otherwise. The consumption of alcohol is not permitted while in a duty status.
-Please monitor local media (WLOX, etc) orThe Weather Channel for storm updates on evacuations, time frames, etc.
-There is no current/projected tasking for NMCB 7 personnel at this time.
-Ensure to constantly monitor CBC Gulfports page as well as the command page for updates on storm, musters or anything else pertaining to NMCB 7 personnel.
-Feel free to call the command CDO if you have any other questions.
-Any NMCB 7 service members onboard CBC Gulfport please ensure to monitor CBC's page for updates on food, etc. I have seen a few questions in regards to chow times, MRE's for personnel in barracks. I currently do not have that information.
-I will be making updates periodically and answering any questions if anyone has anything. Again feel free to call the CDO phone at 228-224-7051

Rear Admiral Mark L. Tidd comes from a career Navy family and is a graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Mass. He received his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary. He is a graduate of the National War College in Washington, D.C., with a Master of Science in National Security Strategy and a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the Armed Forces Staff College. RADM Tidd’s Navy tours include Naval Air Station Moffett Field, Calif. with Patrol Wing 10 and the USS Reeves (CG 24), homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. During his time on board, Reeves visited Qingdao, China, as part of the first port visit by U.S. warships to that country in 39 years. He went on to serve as deputy command chaplain on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). Marine Corps tours include 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, and the division staff of 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C., deploying to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Desert Storm. He served at Marine Corps Combat Development Command as the chaplain for the Marine Corps Brig and the Base Security Battalion and later returned to 2nd Marine Division as the division chaplain. He has served in leadership positions on the chief of chaplain’s staff as the branch head for Professional Development and Religious Programs and as the Advanced Training officer at Navy Chaplain School. Tidd was assigned as the force chaplain for U.S., Naval Forces Central Command and the fleet chaplain for U.S. 5th Fleet, headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain. After serving as command chaplain for the U.S. European Command, he became Deputy Chief of Chaplains and Chaplain of the Marine Corps. RADM Tidd’s military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with gold star, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars. Tidd assumed his current duties as the 25th Chief of Chaplains on 27 August 2010 and was promoted to Rear Admiral (upper half) on the same date.
