The Scholastic Book Fair will be at our school next week from October 25th-29th. Students can shop from 6:50-7:20 every morning and during their scheduled library time. Parents are welcomed to come shop during the week. Below is a link to the video on how eWallet works for students to shop the Book Fair.

Huge shout out to Mrs. Sumrall! Mrs. Sumrall is Three Rivers Elementary September Teacher of the Month. Mrs. Sumrall teaches 3rd grade ELA. She always has a positive attitude, willingness to help others on her team and throughout the school. Mrs. Sumrall goes above and beyond for her students and the school! Congratulations Mrs. Sumrall.

Congratulations to Mrs. Hersey, Three Rivers Elementary School September Staff of the Month. Mrs. Hersey serves Three Rivers Elementary as the Bookkeeper. Much of what Mrs. Hersey does is behind the scenes but she is always willing to serve in many other roles than what is required. Three Rivers Elementary appreciates everything she does for our students, staff and parents!

Our school is always so giving and supportive!! We cannot wait to see the love pour out for those in need from Hurricane Ida!! 💙💙

Harrison County School District will be closed on Monday, September 6, 2021, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. We wish all of our HCSD families a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable long weekend! Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 7th.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR HCSD FAMILY: Due to the threat of severe weather associated with Hurricane Ida, all schools and offices in the Harrison County School District will be closed on Monday, August 30, 2021. HCSD plans to reopen for a regular school day on Tuesday, August 31st.

We will continue to closely monitor the storm and stay in communication with Harrison County Emergency Management officials throughout the weekend. As always, we will keep you informed through District Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, website, APP alert notification, and call-out system. We will also notify local news media of any changes to our school operations.

Please be prepared and stay safe!

ATTENTION HCSD PARENTS & GUARDIANS OF VIRTUAL LEARNING STUDENTS: Please see the info graphic below for information regarding meal pickups for students who have selected the virtual learning option for the next two weeks. Breakfast and lunch menus are posted on the HCSD website.

Make sure you sign the letter regarding the virtual option sent home with your child today and return to the school by Friday.

Hello Dolphins! Due to the rising numbers of Covid, we would like to give you the option of traditional learning or virtual learning for the next two weeks beginning August 23rd and ending September 3rd. All students would return to campus on September 7th after the Labor Day Holiday. Please ask your child for the letter we sent home today. We must have the signed letter with your option by Friday, August 20th. This will help us prepare to continue our outstanding academic instruction with your child. ATTENTION HCSD FAMILY: This evening, the Harrison County School Board voted to follow public health guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding face masks. Currently, the CDC strongly recommends that students, teachers, and staff wear masks while inside school buildings and buses. Masks and facial coverings will be optional in HCSD. Our schools will continue to take the necessary precautions to support the HCSD mission of providing a safe and healthy learning environment for our students, teachers, and staff.

Every year the PTA provides a welcome back breakfast for the teachers and staff at Three Rivers Elementary. Due to the pandemic, we were unable to have a PTA last year. In order to still provide for the teachers and staff, we have two moms that will provide the breakfast. We were hoping that others would like to help by donating funds to purchase breakfast items for the staff as they come together to prepare for another year of caring for and teaching our children. Thank you in advance!

Tomorrow is the last day to register your child before school starts

Meet Mrs. Mhlanga - Teacher Assistant

Mrs. Beverly Mhlanga is starting her fifth year at Three Rivers Elementary School. She previously worked in the Gulfport School District for approximately thirteen years. She received her bachelor’s degree in general studies from William Carey University.

Ms. Mhlanga is from Detroit, Michigan. She attended The School of Fashion Design in Boston, Massachusetts, where she met her husband. Her husband was from Zimbabwe, Africa. After school, Mrs. Mhlanga and her future husband returned to Detroit. They were married in 1970. About eight years later, they moved to Zimbabwe. While in Zimbabwe, they were blessed with a daughter and a son. In 1993, Mr. & Mrs. Mhlanga returned to the United States and settled in Gulfport, Mississippi. Sadly, Mr. Mhlanga passed away in 2019.

Mrs. Mhlanga is looking forward to having a successful school year with her students.

Meet Mrs. Swanier-White - Fourth Grade Math & Science

Mrs. Leslie Swanier-White is a graduate from University of Southern Mississippi. She has been an educator with Harrison County School District for 10 years and teaches 4th grade Math and Science.

Mrs. Swanier-White is married to Gerone White and they have five children. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and baking.

Meet Mrs. Sellers - Principal

Mrs. Sellers has had the pleasure of serving the boys and girls in the Harrison County School District for the past 24 years. She is a product of the Harrison County School District and has lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast her entire life. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Mrs. Sellers has taught 1st grade and 6th grade. She was an Instructional Literacy Coach, an assistant principal, and has been the principal at Three Rivers Elementary for the past 13 years. She has a total of 18 years in administration and absolutely LOVES being an educator! It was definitely her calling in life.

Mrs. Sellers is a Road Runners Club of America certified running coach. She has run 22 marathons, tons of half marathons, and numerous other races. She currently has a run streak (running every single day) of 2,398 days (6 years, 6 months, 25 days). She is the coach of the TRE Running Club.

Mrs. Sellers has been married to Jeff Sellers for 27 years. They have two daughters, Gabrielle and Brianna, and a grandbaby, Cade. Gabrielle and Brianna also are products of the Harrison County School District. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, crocheting, and running.

Mrs. Sellers cannot wait to serve the students, parents, and staff at Three Rivers Elementary! She is excited to welcome everyone back and knows this will be a dynamic year of growth and achievement for all!
