We need a soldout Adult Senior Prom. The Elder Group is on a mission to open a senior citizen safe house for displaced seniors with little or no income. The winter months become hectic for The Elder Group receiving calls from the ER, and the Sheriff's Department because our senior citizens misuse emergency transportation to the hospital because they have no place to stay. Please support our cause through donations, or ticket sales.

Today is Elder Abuse Awareness Day!

This important day sheds light on the critical issue of elder abuse and emphasizes the need to protect and empower our senior community members.

We are proud to share that the The Elder Group will be at todayโ€™s Black Economic Empowerment Summit. The Elder Group, a dedicated organization providing vital services to seniors in our community, plays a pivotal role in advocating for the rights and well-being of our elderly population.

Elder abuse is an unfortunate reality that affects countless seniors, both physically and emotionally. It is our responsibility as a community to join forces and take a stand against this injustice. By raising awareness about elder abuse, we can work together to prevent and address this issue and ensure that our elderly community members live with dignity, respect, and safety.

The Washington County NAACP encourages everyone to check in on the Elders you know and love. Volunteer in spaces that serve the seniors in our community and advocate for services such as Meals on Wheels to be funded.

Let's stand united against elder abuse and work towards a brighter future for our senior community.

Dear Hampton Roads Community,

I'm thrilled to introduce the African American Policy Council (AAPC) to the vibrant and diverse community of Hampton Roads. As an organization deeply committed to advancing the rights, opportunities, and well-being of African Americans in our region, we are honored to join hands with you in pursuit of a more equitable and just society.

The African American Policy Council is founded on the principles of empowerment, advocacy, and community engagement. Our mission is clear: to serve as a powerful voice for African Americans in Hampton Roads, advocating for policies and initiatives that address systemic inequities, promote economic and social justice, and empower individuals and families to thrive.

We believe in the power of collective action and collaboration. Through strategic partnerships with community organizations, grassroots activists, policymakers, and stakeholders, we will work tirelessly to amplify the voices of African Americans and drive meaningful change at the local, state, and national levels.

Our focus areas encompass a wide range of critical issues affecting African American communities, including but not limited to:

Education Equity: Ensuring access to quality education, addressing disparities in academic achievement, and advocating for policies that support the success of African American students.

Economic Empowerment: Promoting economic opportunities, job creation, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy initiatives that uplift African American individuals and businesses.

Criminal Justice Reform: Advocating for fair and equitable criminal justice policies, combating systemic racism in the criminal justice system, and supporting efforts to reduce mass incarceration and promote rehabilitation.

Healthcare Access: Addressing healthcare disparities, advocating for affordable and accessible healthcare services, and promoting wellness initiatives that prioritize the health and well-being of African American communities.

Voting Rights and Civic Engagement: Protecting voting rights, increasing voter turnout, and promoting civic engagement among African Americans to ensure their voices are heard in the democratic process.

As we embark on this journey together, we invite you to join us in our efforts to create a more inclusive, equitable, and prosperous future for all residents of Hampton Roads. Together, we can build a community where every individual has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of race, ethnicity, or background.

We look forward to collaborating with you and making a positive impact in Hampton Roads and beyond.
