GENTLE LANDING BIRTH CENTER RECEIVES ACCREDITATION FROM CABC: The Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers for Excellence in Childbirth!!
Hanover, NH–July 20, 2023 – Gentle Landing Birth Center, a freestanding birth center located in Hanover, NH, has received accreditation from the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC). CABC is the leading accrediting body for birth centers in the United States and Gentle Landing Birth Center is the only birth center in New Hampshire and Vermont to be CABC-accredited. This accreditation demonstrates Gentle Landing’s commitment to providing the highest quality of care to low-risk childbearing women.
To receive CABC accreditation, Gentle Landing Birth Center underwent a rigorous review of its policies, procedures, and practices. The final 3-day review team visit looked at everything from the center’s physical space to the qualifications of its staff. This national excellence accreditation is a significant achievement that recognizes Gentle Landing’s commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based maternity care to low-risk childbearing women in a relaxed, and comfortable, homelike environment.
“We are thrilled to have received CABC accreditation for our free-standing birth center,” said Katherine Bramhall, midwife and co-owner of Gentle Landing Birth Center. “This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based care to low-risk birthing families in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, ensuring that our clients will receive the highest quality of care possible.”
“We believe that every woman deserves to have a positive birth experience,” said Meghan Sperry, nurse midwife and co-owner. “We are committed to providing our clients with the care and support they need to have a safe and comfortable birth.”
Gentle Landing Birth Center offers full-scope prenatal and postpartum care and has two birthing suites, each with a luxurious birth tub, private bathroom and shower. Movement, eating and drinking in labor are encouraged.
Gentle Landing Birth Center also offers a variety of in-house educational programs for pregnant women and their partners. These programs cover topics such as childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, and newborn care, and parenting and sibling classes.
Gentle Landing Birth Center is open to women who are at low risk for complications during childbirth. To learn more about Gentle Landing Birth Center or to schedule a tour, please visit www.GentleLanding.com.

"My cousin gave birth at Gentle Landing almost a year ago," Lohr said. "She just had beautiful things to say about the level of support she had there, and autonomy, which was really appealing to me."
Why do some Vermont women travel to New Hampshire to have their babies in birth centers? Some women don't want to have hospital births, preferring birth centers. For Vermont women that means a long drive to New Hampshire.
