Can you guess how many pounds of potatoes we got in from Kitchen Farms, Inc.? There are two big totes full of yellow potatoes that are getting bagged into family-size portions and distributed to our food pantry partners.

It's Amazon Prime Day and Manna needs your help! There is a growing population of homeless individuals in our communities - whether it's a family living out of their car or individuals sleeping in a tent in unseen areas. Regardless of their situation, the unfortunate reality is that these people need access to food that doesn't require a conventional kitchen, is lightweight to carry, and doesn't take up a ton of space. We have started a list of food items we need to get these food bags started, and better yet, they are on sale for Prime Day. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated! Did you know that you can use your bridge card at the Downtown Petoskey Farmer's Market? Stop by and see the Manna booth at the market today from 8:30am-1pm on Howard Street. In addition to great food, there are lots of fun activities for the family as today is Kid's Day.

Thank you Bill's Farm Market for donating 1,200 pounds of corn to our food bank! This gorgeous corn has been flying out the door to our partner pantries. Guests at our own food pantry were so excited so see corn as one of our produce options. Thank you Lucas and family for always thinking of the community!

Congratulations to Jayme, our raffle winner! Not enough tickets sold to raffle off the paddle board, so the raffle reverted to a 50/50. We are very grateful for the money raised that will make a tremendous impact on supporting our food bank and the families we serve.

Our Food 4 Kids backpacks are available for any child and can be found at all of these locations throughout the summer. We know that summer can be a difficult time for families that don't have access to free breakfast and lunch while the kids are out of school. These bags can help supplement meals and lighten that load. Stop by these public libraries, Emmet County EMS, or come to Manna's Food Pantry for these kid-friendly food bags.

Fresh dairy is a big part of our food distribution network and eggs are no exception. So far this year, Manna has distributed 14,220 dozen eggs to our partners. That is 170,640 eggs! Our food bank covers half the cost of protein and dairy products, and 100% of the cost of produce for any of our partners. We believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food.

Usually our mobile pantry is in Carp Lake on the 1st Thursday each month, but since tomorrow is a holiday, we opted to move the mobile pantry to today instead of cancelling it. Northern Emmet county is sparse when it comes to accessing food assistance. Our mobile food program helps lessen the burden for families in these rural areas. We can't believe we are already halfway through the year! 2024 has been a busy year so far, and we aren't slowing down anytime soon. We are excited to partner with Vivery to provide an interactive map of resources on our website for our neighbors looking for food. This map will help people easily find a pantry or meal program closest to them by filtering by distance, day of the week, and more. Did you know that the food we receive from our food rescue partners goes out the same day to one of our food pantry partners? This beautiful fruit and antioxidant rich ginger from Grain Train Natural Foods Market went out the door just as quickly as it came in. We are so grateful to our rescue partners for helping us nourish our neighbors with high-quality produce like this!

Beautiful heads of lettuce have been going out this week to our partner pantries from one of our new partner farms, Entrusted Earth Family Farm. We are so excited for another season of farm fresh produce to help nourish our neighbors.

We cannot say thank you enough to everyone who supported the Manna Food Project's Food 4 Kids program at our inaugural gala event! We want to thank all our event sponsors, our live auction donors, the best volunteers and board members in the world, and our unbelievably generous community for making such a huge impact in the fight against hunger. A massive thank you to the Doll-Loesel Foundation for an incredible $100,000 matching donation for our backpack program. The wonderful gala attendees came out strong and exceeded the match by raising another $115,000! This funding secures the longevity of this program and will provide fresh fruit, whole grain alternatives, and nutrition education materials for the pre-k and elementary students that receive backpacks. We believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food and we are beyond grateful to our community for making it possible to provide not only a larger quantity of these vital food bags, but a higher quality of food for children in our community.

Our food pantry is open every Tuesday morning from 9am-12pm and everyone is welcome! Guests who join us at our pantry can select all of their own groceries from dry and canned goods, to frozen meats, dairy, and farm fresh produce.
