Harbor Inc. takes ideas that benefit the community and turns them into action.
Our scope of work adapts to the needs of the community, and provides a wide range of resources and assistance to local governments and the community.
Please donate to the Harbor Springs High School Michigan Youth in Government Program to help continue their participation in this state-wide program that encourages students to take part in the political process where students work throughout the year writing bills and proposals that they try to pass at the Fall Conference in Traverse City and the four-day Early Spring Conference in Lansing. The students get to use the Capital building and be mock Representatives and Senators. They can also participate in mock trial competitions. Over the past 3 years state legislature allocated money for a grant that schools were able to apply for that Harbor Springs High School received each year, and that grant is no longer offered. Please support this dynamic program for the high school.

Prescription and Over-the Counter Drug (POD) Drop-off Saturday, October 14, 2023 at McLaren Northern Michigan’s Petoskey Campus, Circle Driveway off of Mitchell Street, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Residents may safely dispose of prescription or over-the-counter medicines and personal care products for free. We request that residents keep the medicines in the original container for easy identification of the medicine but erase or black out all personal information from the prescription bottles. We will accept non-prescription over-the-counter medications (OTC), prescription medications including controlled substances, and even pet medications. You can bring in pills, liquids, ointments, and lotions.
Residents can also drop off sharps or needles for proper disposal. Sharps need to be in an approved hard impermeable plastic container, an example is a laundry detergent bottle. Individuals will be given a sharps container to dispose of needles in the future. The event is being hosted by the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians Tribal Police, in cooperation with McLaren Northern Michigan, the Health Department of Northwest Michigan, and Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council. For those unable to attend the collection event on October 14h, permanent POD Drop Boxes located at law enforcement agencies throughout Northern Michigan are available for proper disposal. For more information or the locations of the POD Boxes, visit www.PillsInThePOD.com. If you have questions or for more information, please contact Jennifer McKay at Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, [email protected], or visit the POD website www.pillsinthepod.com.
