Mosaic Connections is a three (3) day experience which brings new multicultural students together before Weeks of Welcome to:

1) Move in early and make new friends

2) Get immersed in the JMU/CMSS Culture

3)Get acclimated to the JMU/Harrisonburg Community

4)Gain skills to navigate the collegiate experience

5) Develop community-building and leadership tools

6) Peer-Mentorship

The Mosaic Connections program seeks to energize, equip, and engage first year and transfer students from multicultural backgrounds to the collegiate experience as New Dukes. Students will gain access to campus resources, develop
a sense of belonging, explore what it means to hold different identities, and celebrate this new transition. This program will take place from August 14 -16, 2024 and we are planning for 100 first year and transfer participants.

First impressions are everything, and Amina Ahmed a 2018 B.S in Health Sciences and a minor in Spanish, knows how to show up and show out. From her YouTube channel teaching how to get into the career of your dreams to hee work advocating for Islamic communities, Amina does it all. Women of BAC: Xian Shaw
Today we highlight another it girl now amazing woman or the Black Alumni Chapter. Xian Shaw (pronounced See-Awn) graduated from JMU with a B.S. in Health Science in 2018 and a Doctor of Pharmacy from VCU in 2022. Aside from her career Xian is always giving back to the community and hopes to use her knowledge to help others.
