Franklinton Rising

Franklinton Rising

Breaking economic and spiritual poverty FR purchases and remodels houses. Simultaneously we attract residents to the trades, teaching them job skills.

We provide class instruction and on the job training in the remodeling process, leading to full time positions in the trades. Through this overall process we teach and mentor life skills and a christian perspective of life and purpose. As a consequence, we offer affordable, desirable homes for rent and eventually sale, to these individuals progressing and obtaining employment, as well as to others. These men and women, residents of Franklinton, are learning the ways of the ultimate Carpenter.

Thank you so much to the Columbus Realtors Foundation and all its members for your tremendous support and partnership! Your generous $50,000 donation during the 2023 "Big Give" has played an instrumental role in bringing these two new, accessible duplex homes to life in Franklinton. This project symbolizes not only affordable housing but also opportunity and growth for young people in central Ohio, as they gain critical job skills and hands-on trade experience. We are proud to work together in empowering the next generation while creating a stronger, safer community. Thank you to everyone who visited us for the Open House and to the Columbus REALTORS® Foundation for believing in our mission and helping make it a reality! 🏠

Members of the Columbus REALTORS® Foundation visited the site of the 2023 “Big Give” in Franklinton, where the Foundation provided a $50,000 donation to Franklinton Rising, a local non-profit led by Columbus executive & philanthropist Tom Heffner. What was just a construction site 18 months ago is now home to two beautiful brand-new duplex homes with handicap-accessible first-floor apartments. We want to thank Franklinton Rising for their invaluable work in providing safe and affordable housing while providing job training and trade apprenticeship for at-risk youth in central Ohio. Thank you to everyone who made it to Franklinton today for the Open House! 🏡

Exciting news! 🎉 One of our trainees has transitioned out of shelter living and into our short-term rental house as our inaugural resident! This marks a significant milestone in our collaboration with Youth for Christ, as we work together to offer short-term leases aimed at empowering individuals to establish stability and independence. A huge shoutout to Vineyard Columbus for their invaluable support in furnishing the house with essential items such as cleaning supplies, bed linens, and dishware. Together, we're making a real difference in the lives of those in need. 🏠💪
