This is a demonstration on how to prevent hand flexor deformity performed by a Theramax patient's mother.

She rolls the gauze and uses a band aid 🩹 to maintain the roll and by doing this promotes an increased functionality for her son.

Sharing the improvement of one of Theramax's home health pediatric client. The child used to stand and walk on tiptoe all the time while both ankles were rotated outward (talipes equinovalgus) .

With the regular exercise session, he can now stand with the whole soles of the feet touching the floor. The current improvement helped the child walk without falling and he started to run.

Flat foot or fallen arch.

If you suspect that your child to have flat feet, let the child stand up straight, balancing evenly on both feet. If the entire sole of the foot, including that inner length where an arch should be, touches the ground, then your child may have flat feet.

Since 2006, Theramax treated several patients with flat foot issues. Our therapists has been successful in improving the standing tolerance, balance and coordination skills. Each client's case is unique and the therapy outcomes may differ individually.

Suggestion in documenting the MV due to:
The treating therapist is going for vacation.

All documentation must be true, well communicated and based with the caregiver's recommendation.

The case below, therapist was going for 1 week vacation and will miss 2 visits/1 week. Therapist asked the mother if she wants Theramax to send a replacement so the child will not miss the 2 visits. MOC refused a temporary therapist because the 2 days of visit may be just enough for the adjustment period for the child with the new person.

Here is the suggested MV Note:
Therapist is in vacation this week. MOC requested to just wait for the treating therapist to come back from vacation instead of sending a temporary therapist for her child to cover the 2 visits.

Both parties agreed to miss the 2 visits this week and resume the visits next week. Theramax Staffing Coordinator and PT Supervisor were notified.

Zipper shoes are great option for kids that are wearing AFO. It is also a good option to train them to be modified independent in wearing the shoes.

Swimming is a great exercise at any age. It can be a powerful exercise for cerebral palsy patients, allowing them a greater level of independence and mobility than they have on land.

Proper shoes is important to help kids decrease foot deformity and avoid falling.

In creating a patient's therapy evaluation goals, it is highly recommended to write the FUNCTIONAL GOALS in a SMART FORMAT. See picture below.

Smart goals gives the Medical Reviewer, the treating therapist and the whole rehab team a better picture if what are the current functional abilities and limitations of the child; and what are we specifically trying to achieve.

If the medical reviewer can see the clear picture of the therapy need of the child, it is easier for them to approve the evaluation/therapy visit request.
