A very productive morning…
This fascinating painting headed back to the West. A member of Los Cincos Pintores, Wladyslaw “Walter” Mruk (1883-1942) was not known for holding his thoughts at bay. This work lays bare many of the same class, social and economic issues which face us today. Delighted it has found a happy new home!

Object Matter” is now on view until November 26. Exhibition links in bio. A 40-page digital catalogue is available to view or download on our website’s exhibition page, and features an essay by art historian and writer Alex Grimley. The theme of the show is how the materials available to artists (object matter) influence and enable the creative results viewers see on the wall. The artists featured are Stephen Achimore, Bob Alexander, Charity Baker, len bellinger, Scott Bennett, Berrisford Boothe, Mary Breneman, Paula De Luccia, Camilla Fallon, Martin Hoogasian, Darryl Hughto, Barry Katz, Jeffrey Kurland, Noah Landfield, Ronnie Landfield, Joel Longenecker, Jodie Manasevit, Mark Milroy, Lauren Olitski, Rebecca Purdum, Mark Raush, Susan Roth, Sarah Sands, Sandi Slone, Elizabeth Snelling, Kate Stewart, Francine Tint, Ann Walsh, and James Walsh. When curator Scott Bennett invited artists to participate, he worked closely with them to intentionally select a single work for exhibit. At the same time, he tasked them with sharing observations and anecdotes which would provide insights into their approach to "object matter" in their practices. I find "peeking behind the curtain" into the creative process to be both intriguing and enlightening. Our philanthropic beneficiary The Sam & Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts which receives 20% of all sales. For more than 90 years the Golden Family has been collaborating with and providing artist with innovative materials which help their creativity flourish. This exhibition is designed to help a great organization help artists! Plan a Fall visit to the lovely Catskills region of the Hudson Valley. We're open Thursdays-Sundays. Hope to see you soon!

Run, don’t walk, before Oct. 15 if you can, to view an emotionally moving, thought provoking, and beautiful exhibition of Edvard Munch’s powerful and charged art. So glad I finally checked this “Don’t Miss” off my list! Missing it’s only USA venue would have made me, ahem, scream 😱!
Nice (looooonnnggg) day in the Big Apple taking in The 2023 Armory Show. Lots to see. Lots to like. Lots of cappuccino!
Museum sales always feel good as the works become accessible to public audiences. We’re delighted to have sold a major 1964 sculpture by Austria’s 🇦🇹 preeminent modern sculptor Rudolf Hoflehner (1916-1995) to unique and breathtaking Museum Liaunig in Neuhaus, Austria. The work was exhibited at CGH on Warren street, and in the salon at our Hudson home. After being exhibited in NYC at Odyssia Gallery in 1965, it has travelled home. Bittersweet to say goodbye to an exceptional work.
Goodnight…
