Turkey is the Main Event of Thanksgiving, and we want YOU to get it right! Let's get that turkey right this Thanksgiving with tips from the USDA!

Fresh Turkeys should be bought 1-2 days before you plan to cook them.

Frozen Turkeys can be kept frozen in the freezer indefinitely; however, cook within 1 year for best quality.

The banana sushi recipe is easy to prepare and great as a quick treat to make with family and friends. This recipe is versatile as well, so add anything you want to make it yours!

Ingredients:

1 Banana

2-3 Tablespoons Peanut Butter (or spread of your choice)

1-2 Tablespoons Granola or other Cereal, Dry, Crushed

Directions:

PEEL the banana and place it on a cutting board.

SPREAD the peanut butter on top of the banana.

ADD the granola on top of the peanut butter.

SLICE the roll into ½” to 1-inch pieces.

SERVE rolls on a plate. ENJOY as a snack or dessert,

Spread Ideas

-Almond butter

-Sunflower seed butter

-Jelly

-Dark chocolate, melted**

**Note: In a microwaveable bowl, microwave 2-3 squares of dark chocolate for 20 seconds and give it a stir. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely smooth.

Additional Topping Ideas:

-Dried fruits: raisins, cranberries

-Nuts and seeds: peanuts, almonds, chia seeds, flaxseeds

-Coconut flakes

-Cereal, granola, and trail mix

-Drizzle of melted dark chocolate and honey

TIP: Best to choose a firm banana that is not too ripe. You may leave peeled bananas in lemon juice to prevent it from browning. Suggest cutting banana into halves or thirds to use a variety of spreads and toppings. The banana sushi may oxidize and turn brown in the fridge overnight.

The Benefits of Walking can be applied in different methods:

Brisk Walking at a quick pace provides a gentle workout with heart-healthy benefits. A typical brisk walk is 20 minutes per mile. A good measure is when you have reached a pace where you can still have a conversation but cannot sing a song.

During Interval Walking you will change your pace from fast to a bit slower for set timed intervals. Typically increase speed for short intervals like 30 seconds, then return to a slightly slower pace to recover. Repeat the intervals throughout your walk. This is a fun way to change your routine and build endurance.

Last but not least, Inclined Walking. Whether on a treadmill or walking up a hill, walking on a n incline raises your heart rate to levels similar to running. Walking up a hill helps burn more calories and strengthens muscles in your lower body.
