Twenty years ago today, we swung these doors open and welcomed our first guests to the 745 Bar & Grille! We quickly met many downtown dwellers, day-trippers, plus most of IFD, and have been proudly serving Indy since.

Our name changed in 2007 to Mass Avenue Pub, as the Avenue became a huge destination spot for conventioneers and visitors. We have seen so much growth and progress, from our free standing building to the bustling district we enjoy now, so please ask questions-these stories are long and worth a beer at the bar.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone over the years who have made our success possible, and to all of you that continue to visit. We have certainly made some amazing memories together!
The 745 aka Mass Ave Pub has seen and done a lot in this community so twenty feels pretty good. Next year we can ditch the fake ID!

MacNiven's to Close, Partnering with Slapfish for Raw Bar Concept

After nearly 18 years MacNiven's Restaurant & Bar will give last call for the final time and close for business on New Year's Eve to make way for a new Mass Ave dining experience. MacNiven's owner Stuart Robertson is excited to be partnering with neighboring fast-casual seafood shack Slapfish owner Mark Weghorst to open Raw Bar, a concept conceived by Chef Andrew Gruel, currently with just one other location (Huntington Beach, CA) in operation right next to one of his Slapfish restaurants. Weghorst saw a similar opportunity here where he could "knock a hole in the wall" and join his Slapfish establishment with the MacNiven's space to renovate into Raw Bar, a modern, casual, California-influenced, Peruvian-style raw fish & oyster bar with craft beer, specialty cocktails and a seasonally-rotating menu. Look for a Spring 2021 opening.

MacNiven's has enjoyed an incredible run since 2003, witnessing Mass Ave evolve into what it has become and will continue to be; a growing and thriving dining and entertainment district. We have had the distinct pleasure of serving both locals and visitors alike over the years, enjoying the company of many regulars and making good friends along the way. We are truly thankful for their loyal patronage over these many years. And fear not, you will soon be able to find most of your MacNiven's favorites at The Harbour, a British Fish & Chips stand at The Garage in the Bottleworks District, also including craft beer and plenty of Scotch! Opening is slated for Phase 2 of The Garage in February 2021.

"I am excited about this new Raw Bar venture. Mark is a hard-working, hands-on, all-in operator and I look forward to partnering with him on this project" Robertson said, "He'll be the operator while my main focus will, of course, be at The Harbour, but I'll be in plenty at the Raw Bar, especially during the early opening months and thereafter to visit once again with regulars and old friends."

MacNiven's last day of business will be New Years's Eve. Hours this week are 5pm-9pm.
