William Clark III of the Valley of Youngstown, A.A.S.R., during our Night of Charity, tells the moving story of how his life was transformed not once, but twice by Freemasonry. Born with cerebral palsy, William learned to walk with care from Shriners Hospitals. His independence was further supported with help from our Grand Almoner's Fund to specially equip a vehicle. "The Shriner's gave me my legs, and all these years later, the Scottish Rite gave me my wheels." Support our powerful work here -> https://srnmj.us/Donate-Give

For our brothers in Terre Haute…

in 1915, the U.S. Patent Office issued a patent for the Coca-Cola bottle, based on a design by Chapman J. Root, of the Root Glass Company in Terre Haute. He designed a “bottle which a person will recognize event when he feels it in the dark,” by imitating the ridges in a cocoa pod. His original prototypes of the now classic design were made out of wood and iron.

This porcelain pitcher with a fashionable—in 1845—gold painted rim and handle, features symbols important in Odd Fellowship—rendered in transfer prints and colored paint. Around the time this object was made, American Odd Fellowship broke with the English group from which it had originated and began to govern itself as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Symbols on this pitcher reflect this change and tell the story that this pitcher, though manufactured in England, was intended for an American audience. Read more about this object and its history here: https://bit.ly/3PQiG4i.
