Aunt Nina's Apron
Homemade old-fashoined candy
Have you gotten your toffee from Aunt Nina's Apron, yet? We will be in two separate events this weekend. Find my sweet girl, Ava , at the Cookie Walk at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola Saturday from 9-12. And I will be set up at The Red Acre Barn in Prole both Saturday (9-4) and Sunday (10-3).
Of course, if you can't make it out to either of those, I will be taking orders until December 15th, so just send me a message.
I hope to see you this weekend!

Think I need this shirt, but replace "chocolate" with 'Toffee'...
I've only written the word "TOFFEE" 5,642 times in my life and this morning, I forgot an 'f'....
Either way you spell it, this stuff is da bomb! We had one customer this morning say, "oh. my. gosh." And that's a direct quote.
Come see us today and taste for yourself. Pella High school gymnasium. Here til 3!
Who's ready for TOFFEE!!!
Come and see us this Saturday at the Indianola Middle School for the IMB Craft Show! There'll be over a hundred crafters and vendors available. Come peruse the aisles.
Aunt Nina's Apron will be bringing along a bunch of toffee for your pleasure! Free samples are always available too.
For those of you with a nut allergy, be sure to try our raspberry toffee, our coffee toffee with espresso beans, or our bacon toffee.
This talented entrepreneur is also a very dear friend to me. Her flowers brighten up my home and my office. If you don't have an arrangement from Brighten It Up, what are you waiting for?
We are set up to go with toffee at two locations in Warren county this morning. Stop by and see Ava, aka Raspberry the Elf, At the Catholic Church in Indianola. She is there until noon. Then, run down to Milo's small town Christmas and stop in at the elementary school. Heather, aka Sugar Britches the Elf, is set up there with all your holiday giftgiving needs.
At least if you want toffee...
Michelle McCorkle Boyd , see what I did there!
As you make your way through Indianola today, be sure to stop by the IOOF building on the east side of the road at the cemetery for an amazing vendor show until 12. Then, check out the Winter Market at Summerset Winery. Aunt Nina's Apron is set up at BOTH.
Here's to a great day in Pella today! They are already lined up and ready to come in. Is this what Black Friday workers feel?
So excited!
When you attend a craft/vendor show, you are supporting local families, even if you don't make a purchase. You are saying, "I see you. You are valued". These men and women, and sometimes even kids, are taking a talent they have and supporting their families through a business. When you see a sign for a craft or vendor show, I challenge you to pull in and make a difference!
Aunt Nina's Apron will be set up at various shows over the next few weeks, making sure to share our delicious small batch, old-fashioned toffees with all of you. Bring a friend, stop in, say hi, grab a free taste, and remember to support local!
November 13, Pella High School 9-3
November 20, Pleasantville High School 9-2
November 27 (Small Business Saturday), IOOF Indianola 9-12
December 4, St. Thomas Aquinas Indianola, 9-12
Are Julie and I the only ones OBSESSED with Pumpkin? I love it. But nothing is more frustrating than when I eat or drink something *pumpkin spice*, yet there is NO pumpkin.
So, when I was playing around with my new PUMPKIN toffee, it was important to me there actually be pumpkin in the recipe and not just the spices. Pretty sure Julie loves it as much as I do.
Ready to give it a taste? Come see me this weekend at the Indianolausic Boosters Craft Show at Blake Fieldhouse in Indianola. You can also try the almond, cashew, pecan, coffee, raspberry or spicy toffees this year.
Hope to see you Saturday, October 30.
P.S. Julie, we need a new picture!
Toffee! Get your TOFFEE!!!!
This weekend, I will have for you:
Almond toffee, Bacon Toffee, Cashew, Coffee, Pecan, Pumpkin, Raspberry and Upset Toffees!
What is "Upset" Toffee, you ask? I was trying to make something "spicy" - my hubby let me down so softly when he tried it, by telling me, "It's really good, but it's not *ANGRY*, just a little mad". Thus, UPSET! Come try a free sample this weekend at Blake Fieldhouse.
All set up at Barean First Assembly of God in Pleasant Hill (Community Farmers Market) HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR today. Tons to f amazing vendors. Here til 4! Come check us out.
Full list of vendors and crafters at The Harvest Market at Thrive on Saturday! You won't want to miss this one!

Yesterday, I got to see my oldest daughter and her family. We aren't going to spend Thanksgiving together this year, so it was extra special just to get to be with them for a few hours. After I left, I just kept smiling because I love my grandkids so stinkin' much. Of course, that made me remember spending time with my own grandma when I was young. There is something special about a Grandma's unconditional love.
Whenever Grandma Butler had to take a dish to a potluck or family dinner, you could pretty much count on it being a Cheesey Mac and Corn Casserole. I was shocked to learn the other day that not everyone has actually EATEN this yummy catastrophe. My Grandkids ask for it whenever they have a chance, so I thought I would share the recipe with all of you, just in case you've not had a chance to lick the spoon.
CHEESEY MAC AND CORN CASSEROLE
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup butter, cubed
8 oz Velveeta Cheese - either cubed or shredded
14 oz whole kernal corn
14 oz creamed-style corn
2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 cup chicken stuffing mix, crushed or herb bread crumbs
1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees
2. Combine all ingredients except the stuffing/bread crumbs together in a medium size casserole dish, mixing well.
3. Bake for 30 minutes
4. Remove from oven, sprinkle with stuffing/bread crumbs
5. Return to oven and bake an additional 15 - 20 minutes until macaroni is soft and a crust forms on top.
6. Remove from oven, say your prayers, and eat.
Thanksgiving this year is going to look a little different than what I usually like, but I'm learning to roll with the punches. Instead of cooking for a houseful, I'd like to try some new recipes out on my husband and Thing 4. What are some of your FAVORITE Thanksgiving(ish) dishes and recipes?
Although I LOVE this weather, it is reeking havoc on my toffee! Did you know that humidity levels can make all the difference in many candy recipes? If you place an order right now, it may take a little longer than normal to fill, just because of the weather.
So hang tight and let's generate some responses with this photo.
We are all set up at the middle school today. Here from 9:00 to 2:00, come get your toffee fix!
Be sure to stop at the Music Boosters Craft Show tomorrow (Sat, Oct 31) at the Blake Field House. I will be offering a special treat for all purchases of 4 or more bags if toffee.

Almonds, Bacon, Cashew, Coffee, Mixed Nut, Pecan and Raspberry
Drumroll, please.....
you can now order your toffee online! Yes, that is right, ON LINE!

A huge THANK YOU goes out to Breanna and Stetson Owen for making this few come true.
NEXT Saturday, Aunt Nina's Apron will be at the Indianola Middle School's Music Boosters Craft and Vendor Show. I have been coming to this show for several years and always love seeing repeat customers. Stop by and say hi and be sure to take home some of your favorite treats!
Love my new boxes to hold toffee bags! Thank you to my sweet friend's hubby for seeing a need and finding a solution!!

Good morning, Pleasantville!!! Come out to see us at the library! Wonderful vendors and crafters are set up and ready to see your smiling faces. Don't let the wind scare you, we've only seen ONE witch go by....
I am super excited to be in Pleasantville on Saturday and can't wait to see everyone at Webb Shadle Memorial Library! And to make it extra special, I will be *unveiling* our newest toffee creation....
Contrary to popular opinion, not everything is destined for Toffee Greatness. Take, for instance, Hot Pepper Toffee or Gummy Worm Toffee (neither sour, NOR regular). Meatloaf toffee was a definite "No Go" apple crisp toffee seems kinda redundant. However, when Bacon Toffee was unveiled, it was a huge success, as was Coffee Toffee. And they both took several batches to get it just the way we wanted it.
The way this year has been going, I wasn't sure we would even be able to attend vendor shows, let alone try a new creation. Who's with me in giving 2020 a big ole **plbplbbb**?
Which is why I am excited to bring you....
White Chocolate Raspberry Toffee.
I am so excited to announce that we will be going live with a new website in October! My daughter (Thing 1) and son-in-love have been working hard to get all the bugs fixed and everything spot on so you can order online and even keep track of where we will be with our yummies!
Want to help me out? Leave me a review on FB so we can use it on our website. We would love to hear from you.
Now, let's all give a shout out to Breanna and Stetson, my heroes!
We had a GREAT time at Saturday's Rustic Home Event at the Warren County Fairgrounds. I am so glad Thing 4 was there to help me, or there is no way we could have talked to as many of you as we did. If you were there, thank you for your support. We ran out of toffee!!!! Seriously, ran OUT. What an amazing blessing! So, this week, as we get ready for the Indianola Harvest Market, we will be busy in the kitchen. Please stop at Thrive Church in Indianola this Saturday and take a look around. There are SIXTY vendors, crafters and junkers bringing their goods for people just like you! The weather is going to be exceptional!
9-2, 707 E Euclid Ave, Indianola.
Five more days until you can get your toffee at the Rustic Home Show at the Warren County Fairgrounds. FIVE. MORE. DAYS. I can hardly stand it!
Guess what flavor toffee this is....
I just LOVE a good craft show, don't you? I get to be in TWO this month. This is another vendor joining me at the Harvest Market at Thrive Church on Saturday, September 26th. Be sure to check out the page for Indianola Harvest Market Craft & Vendor Fair for spotlights on all the vendors and crafters!
We are pumped to be able to introduce you all to a new boutique at the Harvest Market this year. Here is Bailey Beebe to tell you a little bit about it:
"Wilted Daisy Boutique was started in February of 2018 with a vision of helping women of all sizes find clothes suitable to them, with a variety of styles! With no store front, the boutique is run on Facebook only."
I love being able to help the "Little Guys" make their dreams come true, and also find a special treasure just for me. Ladies, be sure to stop by and welcome Bailey to our Market and pick something out just for you!
This year's Harvest Market is drawing crafter, vendors, junkers and repurposers from all over Iowa and a couple of neighboring states! You are not gonna want to miss this event!
