Trans Visibility Day!!
Came across this piece by Mari Andrew and felt it deep in my bones.
May we learn to suffer well, my friends. May we care for ourselves and each other through the darkness and mundane.

Brilliant depiction. Please be kind and gentle with yourself today.
A Trauma Healing Center is here to heal with you.
Thay, is at the heart of A Trauma Healing Center and all the work I do as a person. To say that he changed my life is an understatement.
Thank you Thay for all that you have given the world. I am grateful and will continue to follow in your guidance.
My favorite mantra I learned from him
Breathing in I notice my heart,
Breathing out, I smile at my heart.
Thich Naht Hanh was a rare spiritual leader who came to include compassion to all beings in his personal practice as a vegan and in his teachings. Rest in peace, Thay. Thank you for a life well-lived, in service of promoting peace and kindness. You will be missed but your legacy will live on and on in your books and recordings.
From Thich Naht Hanh's Plum Village...
New Contemplations before eating:
This food is a gift of the earth, the sky, numerous living beings, and much hard and loving work.
May we eat with mindfulness and gratitude so as to be worthy to receive this food.
May we recognize and transform unwholesome mental formations, especially our greed and learn to eat with moderation.
May we keep our compassion alive by eating in such a way that reduces the suffering of living beings, stops contributing to climate change, and heals and preserves our precious planet.
We accept this food so that we may nurture our brotherhood and sisterhood, build our Sangha, and nourish our ideal of serving all living beings.
Favorite self care tools?
Boundaries. We all need them. "No, can be a full sentence" Olsen family.
Thank you for illustrating this truth Introvert Doodles and for posting it Depressionism!
Do you have any you would add to the list?
Mine might be, "practicing self care might look easy (even though it's one of the hardest things I am learning)"
Focusing on the lesson rather than the pain does not imply that you are ignoring or dismissing your pain. Suppressing your feelings or grief never leads to anything good. It keeps the emotion bottled up, and will only keep you feeling stuck.
It's also Interesting that by ruminating on the hurt, you end up escalating those feelings. If you let it, your mind will spin out of control. Have you ever noticed that you receive more of what you focus on?
Life throws major hurdles at us, and we may need to take a moment before we can turn our attention to the lesson. Take a pause. Recognize your suffering. Give it the time and attention it deserves. Then, for more emotional freedom, ask yourself what is the lesson here?
Here are 2 questions that can help:
1. What did I learn through this?
2. How has that made me more aware/stronger?
When you bring the lesson to the forefront, you open yourself to growth. The things you concentrate on (how you manage your thoughts) and the perspective you take will either amplify your peace or your pain. (There are times when you feel both, and that’s OK too.) But remember, as you keep your attention on the lesson, you inevitably keep moving forward.
Comment 🙌 if you feel the same way!
Wishing everyone a kind transition into the New Year!
So these are signs of what should not happen in healthy relationships, what are actions to do in healthy relationships?
Travelling with Trauma posts fantastic information and support on trauma! Thank you!
I love Gilbert's model and incorporate it into much of my clinical and nonclinical work. A great self check in question, "which system of emotions am I currently operating from and is this a useful response." If you are stuck in threat, try some soothe, if you are feeling some depression, try behavioral activation (going out and doing stuff) to reignite your drive.
Sending soothe into the world tonight~
Great reminder!
