Several members of SJV Council 9360 spent some time Saturday morning preparing a holiday meal of pulled pork, coleslaw, chips, and a dessert for the monthly ECHO meal. We made 115 meals that were distributed in less than 15 minutes. The need is great in Janesville, help support those in need the best you can.

SJV Council 9360 held a Trivia Night fundraiser last weekend for the benefit of D.J. Barnes. D.J. is a 19 month old little boy who was born with heart issues and is currently staying at American Family Children's Hospital in Madison waiting for a heart transplant.
Members of our Council jumped in to organize the trivia questions, donated food, set up and worked the event. Over 50 people joined us for a meal from Chick-fil-A with desserts donated by Knights and SJV parishioners. We had 8 teams competing for the title of Trivia master by answering 60 questions. There were basket raffles and a 50/50 raffle, as well as concessions. At the end of the night Grand Knight Dave Bohler presented D.J.'s parents, Sarah and Denzel, with a $2,000.00 check from the WI State Knights of Columbus. Our Council will be presenting them another check from the proceeds in the next week or two. Thank you to everyone who donated, participated, worked at, and prayed for the success of this event.

SJV Council 9360 is please to announce that the Bob and Mary Arndt family have been chosen as our April Family of the Month.
The Arndt family has a long history with St. John Vianney. Mary started teaching there in 1981. She and Bob were married there in 1982 and have been members ever since. All four of their children attended, and now some of their 12 (soon to be 13) grandchildren attend SJV school. All of them have been involved in many aspects of parish life. Teaching, cantering, serving, working at the Rock County Fair food tent are only a taste of how they have contributed to SJV. These reasons, along with their dedication to living a Catholic life, made them a perfect choice for this honor. Make sure to congratulate them the next time you see them.

Andrew, Sarah and their 4 boys (MIchael-6, Levi- 3 1/2, Simon-2, Fulton-1 month) can be seen regularly at Sunday Mass. Almighty God, Our Father, You have given us life and intended us to have it forever, grant us Your blessings. Enlighten our minds to an awareness and to a renewed conviction that all human life is sacred because it is created in Your image and likeness. Help us to teach by word and the example of our lives that life occupies the first place, that human life is precious because it is the gift of God, whose love is infinite. Give us the strength to defend human life against every influence or action that threatens or weakens it, as well as the strength to make every life more human in all its aspects.
Give us the grace…
When the sacredness of life before birth is attacked, to stand up, and proclaim that no one has the authority to destroy unborn life.
When a child is described as a burden or is looked upon only as a means to satisfy an emotional need, to stand up and insist that every child is a unique and unrepeatable gift of God, a gift of God with a right to a loving and united family.
When the institution of marriage is abandoned to human selfishness or reduced to a temporary conditional arrangement that can easily be terminated, to stand up and affirm the indissolubility of the marriage bond.
When the value of the family is threatened because of social and economic pressure, to stand up and reaffirm that the family is necessary not only for the private good of every person, but also for the common good of every society, nation, and state.
When freedom is used to dominate the weak, to squander natural resources and energy, to deny basic necessities to people, to stand up and reaffirm the demands of justice and social love.
Almighty Father, give us courage to proclaim the supreme dignity of all human life and demand that society itself give its protection. We ask this in Your name, through the redemptive act of Your Son and in the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our Packer raffle winners, Kathy and Dave Brusky, were able to enjoy a thrilling game with their son and daughter-in-law - Brian and Rachel. Thanks Kathy for supporting the Knights of Columbus. The proceeds from this raffle allowed us to continue our long-standing tradition of giving every 5th grade student, both school and R.E., a bible of their own.
