We are heartbroken to share the passing of our respiratory student, Allison Chapman.
Allison was a wonderful student and friend, who was going to make an amazing respiratory therapist. She also served as our class Vice President. Our class won’t be the same without her. Please keep her family and friends, as well as our class in your prayers. We will make sure Allison’s memory is kept alive for years to come!

Excited for Fourth of July celebrations? So are we! here is some good information to know about fireworks from an audiology perspective.
Risks:
- A type of hearing loss that can be caused by fireworks is called noise induced hearing loss. The world health organization says that 1.1 billion young people worldwide are at risk for this type of hearing loss.
- The bad news is that this type of hearing loss is irreversible. The good news is that it is completely preventable. Even better it’s incredibly easy to protect your hearing.!
Tips:
- Use hearing protection: basic earplugs do a good job for teens and adult. When you’re out shopping for barbecue supplies, grab a few pairs of the drugstore or supermarket. Younger children are generally better off wearing well fitting earmuffs instead of earplugs.
- Stand at least 500 feet away from noise sources such as a firework launch site. The closer you are, the more likely you are to hurt your ears.
- Know your limits. If you are experiencing ringing in your ears or any other ear discomfort, leave the noisy situation. Listen to your body!
For any concerns you have about your hearing, or any Audiology needs, reach out to the NAVE Center at (423)-439-4355!
We are thrilled to announce that after nearly two years of discussions, meetings, and hard work by the ETSU Academic Structure Task Force, the Deans Council, and the Provost’s Office, the ETSU Board of Trustees approved our new academic structure, which was officially sanctioned by the TN Higher Education Commission (THEC). The new structure will be implemented starting July 1st, ushering in a new era for our institution.
One of the most significant changes is the transformation of the College of Clinical & Rehabilitative Health Sciences, which will now be known as the College of Health Sciences (CHS). This change signifies our broader focus and commitment to applied health sciences education and research.
Here are the key changes for the College of Health Sciences (CHS):
• Name Change: We will be rebranded as the College of Health Sciences (CHS).
• New Departments and Programs:
o The Department of Counseling and Human Services will now be part of CHS.
o The undergraduate program in Exercise Science, as well as the MS and PhD programs in Sport Science, will join CHS.
o The Center of Excellence for Sport Science and Coach Education will also become part of CHS.
• Continuity and Reallocation:
o All existing degree programs within CHS will remain unchanged.
• Creation of Schools:
o To provide strategic oversight and enhance multidisciplinary collaboration, CHS will create two distinct Schools:
The School of Clinical Sciences: Encompassing clinical and rehabilitation disciplines.
The School of Human Performance and Sport Science: Including exercise and sport science programs and the Center of Excellence for Sport Science and Coach Education.
We look forward to this new chapter and are excited about the opportunities it will bring for our faculty, staff, students, and community partners. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this monumental change.

A heartfelt thank you to all the families and loved ones who joined us in honoring our graduates’ hard work and achievements. It was also fun to see the shoe show underneath the regalia robes! 👠

🎓🌟 Exciting News from the Honors Graduation Banquet! 🌟🎓
Last night, we had the pleasure of celebrating incredible achievements of students within the Honors College! 🎉 Dean Williams proudly honored Amanda Robinette, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Rehabilitative Health Sciences major. But that's not all—Amanda will be continuing her journey in our Speech-Language Pathology graduate program this fall! 🎓👏
But wait, there's more! Dean Williams also had the pleasure of meeting Jessica Gallimore, who served as an Honors Banquet Assistant. Jessica, a junior in the RHSC program, shares a passion for speech-language pathology just like Amanda. What an incredible coincidence! 🤩
As a seasoned speech-language pathologist herself, Dean Williams was overjoyed to spend the evening with these two exceptional students from our College. 🌟 Congratulations, Amanda—your journey is truly inspiring, and we can't wait to see you thrive in the fall! 🍂 Go Bucs! 🎉
