Student Spotlight:

KING IS HEADED TO THE NATIONAL JUNIOR OLYMPICS CHAMPIONSHIPS!

King McNack is a 9 year old third grader (21-22) from Peralta Elementary School. He enjoys playing football, basketball, and running track.

After 2021-2022 youth football season ended King’s mom (Briana Gentry) decided to enroll him in track and field with One Nation Track Club (Rancho Cucamonga) to keep him in shape for the next football season. With his first year in Track and Field, King competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4 x 100m relays, and long jump events. King excelled at the long jump event. His personal best record in long jump was 13’11” ft at the Pasadena Running Roses Invitational. In the USATF Region 15 Junior Olympic Championship event, King placed third with a 13’10.5” ft jump that helped him qualify for the national Junior Olympics Championships in Sacramento later this month.

When King isn’t playing football or at a track and field event, you can find him playing video games with his friends and hanging out with his family like any normal 9 year old.

As a reminder, the 2022 JUSD LEAP summer program from runs 8 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday June 6-30. Families who filled out an interest form will be hearing from their child’s school soon about class assignments. If you missed the application window, we still may be able to accommodate you. Please contact your child’s school directly to see if there may be classes with openings still available.

REMINDER for K-8 families: The deadline to sign up for the LEAP Summer Program is 3 PM this Friday, April 22!

The LEAP Summer Program will offer free fun and engaging activities for K-8 students. Programs run 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays June 6-30 at your child’s home school*. If you would like to have your child participate, please visit your child’s school webpage, click the 2022 Summer LEAP button, and fill out the interest form. Home site interest forms will be available from 6 PM April 11th to 3 PM April 22nd. Please note that space is limited and enrollment is not guaranteed, but every attempt will be made to accommodate those who are interested.

*Due to construction, Troth Street students will participate at Sky Country Elementary School.
