Last week, these students and 8 other scholars were honored at KSU's Birla Carbon Scholars Symposium for their summer research, supported by a $4,500 stipend from Birla Carbon.

We’re excited to announce that Dr. Emily Scheinfeld has been selected as our 2024-2025 Faculty Fellow!
Dr. Scheinfeld is an Associate Professor within the KSU Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences School of Communication and Media. As Fellow of the Honors College this year, she hopes to engage students by encouraging them to explore a variety of topics, engage in interdisciplinary studies, and interact with faculty and students from other departments.

MJ Watts, an Elementary Education major and AMC cohort member, is dedicating her summer to the Fast Start Academy program. She is working with Title I students, focusing on their social-emotional learning and growth. This wonderful initiative brings together education and social science majors to support schoolchildren and prepare them for the upcoming school year.

Combining art and research, our recent honors alum Chantelle Chapman capped off her college journey with “Parakeet Lost,” a stunning gouache series on the extinct Carolina parakeet.✨Her work won runner-up at the 2024 Spring Symposium of Student Scholars!

Our PEGS cohort had an incredible experience combining global learning with community service while studying abroad in Costa Rica!
In San Jose, they teamed up with the non-profit Obras de Espiritu Santo. In Sarapiqui, they volunteered at a local school and took part in a rewarding restoration project.We're so proud of our honors students for their dedication to making a positive impact! 🌎❤️
In March, our freshmen in the PEGS cohort went on a study abroad trip to Costa Rica! 🇨🇷 They visited San Jose and Sarapiqui, and enjoyed various activities such as hiking in the rainforest, ziplining, a pineapple tour, a chocolate-making workshop, and whitewater rafting! 🛶
We are extremely proud of our Honors Owl, Drake! 🥳 This past semester, he earned an Honors Learning Experience (HLE) credit by creating and teaching an after-school jazz club for 8th graders at his former middle school. With support from the band director Mr. Johnson, the students delivered an amazing jazz show at the end-of-year concert. 🎷🎶

Our Ancient and Modern Classics (AMC) cohort recently embarked on an unforgettable study abroad trip to Harlaxton! ✈️
Here are some of the highlights:
-High tea in the elegant Harlaxton staterooms
-A day trip to the historic city of Cambridge
-A scenic boat cruise to Hampton Court
-An exciting bus tour around the iconic sights of London
-Visits to the British Museum and National Portrait Gallery
We are so proud to offer these enriching experiences for our honors students and can't wait to see where their journeys take them next!
Every Spring semester, we offer a "City as Text" Maymester course where students have the opportunity to explore a city for an experiential learning experience.
This past May, we took a group of honors students to Chattanooga! Over 4 nights, they explored the city’s architecture, culture, history, and changing demographics, all while completing reflective assignments.
Our honors students had an incredible time forging lasting friendships with their peers and learning in a fun, unique way. 🙌

Honors Engineering student Alisa Machiwalla earned several accolades during her time at KSU, including being named SPCEET Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award in 2020 and being awarded the Department of Energy’s Nuclear Engineering Integrated University Program Scholarship for three years in a row.
