just realized that there is a great deficit of pictures for our production of 26. Does anybody have some pictures they would be willing to share from the rehearsal process or either of the performances?
get your tickets now for Amahl and the Night Visitors . It is a production by the lovely folks at Milwaukee Opera Theatre . Hey, we know them!
can't believe 26 is really over, but what an exhilarating experience it was! Just because the show is over doesn't mean class is over, however. Next up for us: Opera Improvisation. If that weren't exciting enough, we will be ending the semester with mock auditions. No, that isn't where we get picked apart American Idol style in front of judges ;-)
come enjoy UW-Parkside Opera Workshop Presents:26 , which is a unique concept made up of very familiar music to those who might have had any voice study, or any experience singing in solo and ensemble contest. The refreshing way that the composer has arranged the music makes it new and exciting again, and the story line (complete with beautiful dance and gesture) is brilliant and seamless. Tonight and Saturday night!
's cast had a beatiful, artful final dress tonight, and everything is just falling into place. Come Friday or Saturday at 7:30PM to see what the fuss is about!
we dove into our tech week with SUPER SATURDAY rehearsal from 9AM-5PM. During this time we were incredibly productive, had tons of fun, and had a picnic of sorts outside of the theatre on the floor. This week will continue to be very busy, but we are so looking forward to putting on an exciting show for you at the end of the week. Updates are sure to follow!
come to our FREE lecture performance today at 7:30PM in the Communication Arts theater. You get to sit on stage while the cast does their thing and you can soak up wisdom from two of the show's co-creators
today, November 11th at 7:30 PM there will be a free lecture performance given in the Communication Arts theater. Come hear Jill Anna and Nathan discuss their work and get a sneak peek at the show!
gets the special privilege of working on music with 26 composer Nathan Wesselowski during tomorrow's opera rehearsal. It is not often that one gets do that, especially in an undergrad setting. We count ourselves blessed :)
was oddly chipper during rehearsal yesterday, as a whole, considering we spent the majority of time singing and staging pieces about really, REALLY wanting to die.
can't believe how many great new things we learn at each rehearsal. This is a completely new experience for everyone, and today was a commendable effort on all counts.
kinda wishes, in retrospect, that we had video taped yesterdays Baroque dance lesson (because we were SO good at it). Sadly, you will have to be deprived of the awesome, and we will be spared the humiliation ;)
learned many things today, which is a good thing to do any day. One lesson: Don't hire Katy Johnson , Jennifer Hansen , and Billy Hansen to build anything together...or at least don't pay them by the hour. However, more importantly there were great things happening with improv exercises today. What a fantastic start to the rehearsal process!
is going to have a unique semester. We will be performing a new show with some very old music in it. It was premiered recently by MOT and it is simply titled 26. We have a small cast, and much larger crew and production team- We couldn't be more excited! There will be plenty of updates to be had via this page, so tell your friends :)
26!
has finally posted and tagged all of the dress rehearsal pictures from Pirates of Penzance Next endeavor is to get the Friday performance pics up! Come take a look. Most of the costumes were rented from Skylight Opera Theatre, with the exception of the lovely Ms. Jennifer Hansen's dress, which was sewn by Claudia Dahl.
