The Root River Voyager Series – environmental education workshops for community members ages 9 and up – returns on Tuesday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:30pm starting July 2!
Topics will include the basics of canoeing and kayaking, water quality, turtles, and invasive species found the Root River. All workshops include a kayak/canoe trip! Pre-registration is required (email [email protected]) and space is limited. There is a one-time $10 registration fee per participant, and youth must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Dr. Kathleen Nichols is not only a highly accomplished dentist but also a tireless advocate for advancing women in dentistry. With her unwavering commitment to excellence and leadership, Dr. Nichols has become a trailblazer in breaking barriers and empowering women within the dental profession.
Dr. Nichols values the foundational principles of resilience, compassion, and community engagement fostered by her alma mater. These values have been the bedrock of her endeavors, propelling her advocacy for women in dentistry and her unwavering dedication to providing quality dental care to underserved communities.
Her impact extends far beyond the dentist's chair. She has dedicated herself to mentoring and supporting women in dentistry, providing guidance and resources to help them succeed in a historically male-dominated field. Additionally, Dr. Nichols is deeply committed to serving underserved communities, volunteering her expertise through programs like Donated Dental Services and Texas Mission of Mercy. Her advocacy for ethical standards in dental care has set a high bar for professionalism and integrity in the field.

Another CNHS Outstanding Graduate Honoree. We are so proud of you Sarah!
Sarah majored in Biological Sciences and minored in Psychology and Chemistry for Pre-Health Professions and is one of our outstanding grads. She has been involved in various leadership roles and volunteer activities at Parkside.
Sarah also participated in the Rural and Urban Scholars Community program and attended UW-Parkside as a high school student through the Parkside Access College Credit (PACC) program. Sarah has been a tutor and supplemental instruction leader in the Parkside Academic Resource Center. She has experience as a certified nursing assistant, has worked as a community health intern, and as an ophthalmic technician. She has served as the public relations manager for the Pre-health club, a senator and vice-president of the Parkside Student Government, and an elementary school reading enrichment volunteer.
Sarah also frequently volunteered with community organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and SendASmile. Sarah has been accepted to the Doctor of Medicine program at UW-Madison.
