Itโs not Tuesday, but Trip would still like to share a ...he wants to remind everyone that 4th of July is coming up quickly. While fireworks are not legal within the city limits, they are still legal in unincorporated Thurston County. So please be aware that wherever you are, you will probably be able to hear them. If your pup has a hard time with fireworks, be sure to get in touch with a vet ASAP, medication may help them!
Chief Almada is proud to have been part of the 2024 Thurston County Relay For Life. Cancer has touched so many lives, and it's truly inspiring to stand alongside survivors (and their caregivers) - those cancer-free, in remission, and undergoing treatment. He was honored to distribute medals to these brave individuals celebrating their journeys. Huge thanks to everyone who gives their support to defeat this disease. Your time, talent, and generosity make a real difference.
Today we want to take time to thank our volunteer , Steve Bradley. Chaplain Bradley is called out at all hours of the day and night to provide support to those affected at major crime scenes. He is also a crucial member of our peer support team, involved in several charity events, and regular around our department--and we sure do appreciate having him around! We donโt say it often enough, but , Chaplain Bradley!

In support of officer wellness, the Lacey Police Department partnered with to provide voluntary screening to our officers and staff for signs of cardiac disease. This program is specifically designed to identify the early signs of cardiac disease in police officers that often goes undetected during routine health screenings.
This program gives officers the opportunity to undergoย a comprehensive blood panel, 10 lead EKG, and carotid artery screenings. The results are then discussed with the individual officers by a medial expert from Sigma Tactical Health and Wellness along with recommendations for exercise, nutrition and suggested medical follow up with their primary physician if appropriate.
Heart disease is much more prevalent in police officers than in the general population and is a leading cause for both on and off duty deaths. Thank you to Sigma Tactical Health and Wellness for helping to keep our officers safe and healthy! ๐๐

๐จLACEY POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCREDITED for highest professional standards of policing๐จ
LACEY POLICE DEPARTMENT has successfully completed a rigorous accreditation program that certifies it is operating under best practices and standards for law enforcement. The program is administered by the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) and involves an eight-phase process over several months.
โWe are proud to be accredited by WASPC,โ said Chief Robert Almada โIt means our department has achieved the highest professional standards for policing. Accreditation is a demonstration of our commitment to professionalism and transparency.โ
Benefits of accreditation include administrative and operational effectiveness, fair recruitment and employment practices, better records management, improved use of technology, health and safety, training, codes of conduct and prisoner security, among other important law enforcement tasks.
โThe Lacey Police Department has worked hard to obtain this achievement,โ said Steven Strahan, WASPC executive director. โThe community should be proud of local law enforcement for taking direct and tangible steps to earn the publicโs confidence in their operations.โ
The certification is awarded for a four-year period when the re-accreditation process begins. The Lacey Police Department first achieved accreditation in 1995 and has maintained its accreditation up to and including its most recent re-accreditation.
The Washington Legislature originally called for the development of standards and goals for law enforcement in 1976.
WASPC was founded in 1963 and represents executive and top management personnel from law enforcement agencies statewide. With more than 900 members it includes the 39 elected county sheriffs, and 240 police chiefs, as well as the Washington State Patrol, the Washington Department of Corrections, and representatives of several federal agencies.
