4 SPOTS LEFT for the next Intro to Sandtray Therapy: For Teen and Adult Populations
__
This training is for the person who is skeptic of, interested in, and new to Sandtray Therapy. Clinicians will be equipped to begin using Sandtray Therapy with clients after this sandtray training.
Fun facts: You don’t need sand to provide effective Sandtray Therapy (for those that are sand phobic or are worried about a mess). Sandtray Therapy isn’t just used with children! Believe it or not, I only work with adults.
Come enjoy this small training to get more of a hands on, personalized training experience!
All Mental Health Professionals, welcome: Interns, PLPCs, PLMFT, LPC, LMFT, LMSW, LCSW, etc.

What previous participants are saying about the training:
"I am definitely sold on Sandtray Therapy. I must share I have not only been more relaxed this week but also am feeling what I believe I used to be like- more so than I have in a long time!"
"It's been years since I've been so excited about a new therapeutic skill/ option. Thank you for this!"

Welcome, Genevieve Ingraldi to the Lotus Dream Team!
Welcome to a peaceful, nonjudgmental space, where together we can help untangle the knots that trouble and hold you back. By exploring how your thoughts, feelings, behavior, and physiology interrelate, we can together create healthier ways of being and relating.
My background in nursing and Certification in Nutrition and Mental Health shape an integrative, whole-person counseling approach. I have additional training in OCD and related disorders (ICBT & ERP techniques), non-substance behavioral addictions, binge eating, couples counseling, and trauma.
I have special interest in the neurobiology of behavior, as well as in helping clients with OCD, and those wishing to break free from harmful, non-substance behavioral addictions. These include compulsive behaviors related to food, gambling, work, exercise, obsessional love (including in cases of marital infidelity), social media, online shopping, and gaming.
My strengths-based approach is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapies, including acceptance and commitment therapy, reality therapy, and rational emotive behavior therapy. I incorporate existential concepts to help derive a sense of meaning and purpose amidst challenges and suffering, based on clients’ deeply held values.
In my free time, I love volunteering to bring therapy dogs to visit nursing homes, hospice patients, and people with special needs. My husband Gus and I enjoy family, friends, food, and community. We’re members of St. Pius Church, and live in Lafayette with our 3 beloved pups, Bitsy, Finn, and Ollie.
Accepting new clients for in office and telehealth appointments beginning August 26, 2024. Learn more and reach out today: www.lotuscounselingandwellness.com/genevieve
Thoughts on a Thursday
Last night I found myself worrying about money or feeling secure and taken care of. There can be tremendous shame around money whether it’s the amount you have or having shame for worrying about money.
I remember at 3 years old I would hide money and began selling my stuff at 5 years old to feel a sense of control and safety and security with provision.
Last night when that anxiety came up, I found myself angry at God- that feeling of “you’re holding out on me”, “you like it when I suffer”, and “you are just toying with me holding out bait”. Legitimate feelings, concerns and even ok thoughts and feeling to have towards God.
I paused to think about how old I felt with these thoughts and I felt 12 years old. Interesting enough I came to know the Lord when I was 13. I thought this was interesting that my vulnerable, hormonal, fearful 12 year old self didn’t know that God is all loving, cannot sin against us, deeply loves us, is our greet provider and is all the things we need in a secure attachment: consistent, attuned, reminds us of our unconditional value, protector and nurturer.
As I attuned to my 12 year old self I felt myself come back to my 30 year old self with the knowledge, healing and connection that I have with God and with His tenderness he brought me back to the Garden of Eden in the first few chapters of Genesis.
God provided this beautiful garden with everything Adam and Eve needed and could want. So much joy, peace, connection and fulfillment. The one boundary God held was to not eat from the tree of Good and Evil. That was it.
Some wonder why would God would even allow that tree in there- isn’t that temptation? But think about it- Eve and Adam weren’t phased by that tree until Satan drew their attention to the tree to pull their eyes away from their securest attachment figure and lover of their soul, to lead them to question the goodness and motives of God. Then what happened? They ate from the tree thinking it would be the provider their needs, value and safety; believing it was the giver of life- our securest attachment figure.
God’s character, love and provision never changed- just the temptation to look to something else and begin to believe He isn’t who He says He is.
I meditated on what my “tree” is and it was a certain budget or income that I believed I needed to survive. The sweet Lord reminded me- “I never promised you that number or that vision you created for yourself but I did promise that you will be provided for, your needs will be met, I will be with you always and work all things for your good”
What is your tree that pulls your eyes away from seeing Jesus for who he truly is- your securest attachment figure?
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the founder and the finisher of our faith.
Hebrews 12:1-2
Genesis 1-3

This picture is a collage I made of myself in this season of release and contemplation... a season where God gave me the image of cutting down a tree... this tree represented what I believed was providing safety and security but was dead inside.

My 2 absolutely favorite local spots: Coffeeweed Cottage and The Hive.
Coffeeweed Cottage is in Lafayette with a warm, cozy environment! Come and get some coffee and pastries and enjoy all the plants, pottery, and porch! This place is a beautiful, eclectic oasis bridging all communities.
The Hive is in Grand Coteau and has hands down the best food! All local ingredients. They also have fun, creative coffee- my favorite is the Floral Bee with lavender, local honey, espresso, and local milk. They also have locally made art!
Enjoy these cozy, cottage like atmospheres and support local businesses!

It has been an incredible year journeying with these beautiful souls towards becoming an Internationally Credentialed Sandtray Therapist. This beautiful therapeutic modality has become so dear to me and has opened opportunities of healing to our community and the chance for me to create my own sandtray therapy curriculum to train other therapists. Thank you, Beth!
Love this special group of ladies!! They are my last cohort in this building, as I’ll be moving offices soon. So many great memories here, so many great cohorts trained in this sweet space. Thank you for sharing in my love for Sandtray and connecting in meaningful ways.
It was a great day recording the next five podcast episodes for Wholehearted Wellness Podcast. We kicked off the day by speaking with Amber Dugas, PLPC, and Samantha Rink, LPC, on Ecotherapy.

Fun fact about Sandtray Therapy- you don't HAVE to have sand to use effective Sandtray Therapy (for those that are sand phobic or don't like a mess). Also, Sandtray Therapy is not just used with kids! I only work with adults and sandtray therapy is profoundly powerful in rewiring the nervous system and doing implicit trauma work.
This Intro to Sandtray Therapy training quickly sold out in June and there has been such joyful feedback from the participants:
"I am definitely sold on Sandtray Therapy. I must share I have not only been more relaxed this week but also am feeling what I believe I used to be like- more so than I have in a long time!"
"It's been years since I've been so excited about a new therapeutic skill/ option. Thank you for this!"

June is Men’s Health Month.
Reading that statement we often think of physical health. However, mental health is just as important and often shamed for men.
There is so much stigma where men feel they have to suppress emotions to appear strong and masculine.
Emotions are universal no matter your gender.
Emotions are a beautiful part of being human and also act as a warning signal for things needing attention.
It is healthy and normal to need mental health support at different times of your life.
We are here to support you wherever you are in your mental health journey.
Reach out today through phone call or text 337-354-9436 or email us at [email protected]
We will happily help you find the best therapist for you whether that is at Lotus or with another wonderful mental health counselor in the community.
