Mojekwu Lounge

Though I have not written on this page in a while, I am still around and waiting to hear from Lake Forest College. Any year now, LFC!!!

Those in Nigeria will be able will be able to come to our home in Akamili-Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra State, to see some Biafran things. Alice Mojekwu Obiora has been working hard to renovate the house and I will show pictures of the renovations soon

The eating season has started...stay safe, eat smart!!

Kim Feigh and I have been communicating on this issue. She sent me some documents concerning concerning THE MOJEKWU FUNDS and what the funds have been used . I asked to be made the Executive Director so I can continue raising funds. The funds have been used for (a) Jose Antonio Vargus Lecture; (b). Muslims in America dinner hosted by the Muslim Students Association (c) Bilal Wilson (LFC Alum) program on Saudi Arabia mission for United Nations (d) Africa Untouched series introduction founded and introduced by Umoja Students Organization. I am now waiting for a response from her so we can continue

I had a phone conversation with the lady from LFC and she said she will mail me some information on the funds so at least I know exactly what is going on there. Let''s see how long it takes her to do it. Same person who was supposed to stop by my place in Chicago but did not and I had to chase her down....Kim Fey is her name if I am not mistaken.

Kim Fay of LFC called back and asked me to come to LFC Sept 12th at noon for lunch/discussions. She is in North Hall and she will email me more info.

President Steve Schutt called me back and said either Kim Fay or Phil Hood will call me back. I called both and left messages for them.

I am planning a concert of some sort early spring to get this lounge going. INBOX me for your BIAFRAN 1 pound note.

If you have not heard from me personally, do not worry as you will soon. Most of you know that I am not a winter person and hibernate through winter by staying indoors and only going out when I must which is not often.

I chatted with Rafael and we talked about U.B.A.. I asked him to send me a SASE and I will send him 1 Biafran pound to show other U.B.A. members. Funds raised from that will be put towards THE MOJEKWU LOUNGE fix up.

On Monday September 12th, I go to see Katie Roth about the lounge and what to do with it. I already have my own ideas but will take some from others especially LFC Students. LFC now has a shuttle from the train station to the college.

Liz called me and said she was aware I had been talking to Derek Lambert on The MOJEKWU LOUNGE. We have an appointment to meet at 3pm North Hall, Rm 305...September12th.

I talked to Rafael Martin and told him to please, get in touch with Phillip Hood and t have him call me back and he said he would.

So Derek Lambert is no longer with L.F.C. and I was told VP Phillip Hood is now the one to talk to. I called him and let a message for a call back. Hopefully, later today, he will call.

I spoke with Paul and Sonya Fisher today about the lounge and Sunny said it was a great idea to work with LFC to fix the lounge. I have to look for Chuck's # and talk to him too.

I spoke with Derek Lambert today about the lounge and he had some ideas for the lounge. I gave him my email address as he had some pictures he wants to email to me. Suggested we reach out to some folks to see what can be done. African American Studies is now a major. Donnell Harmon/Judith Harmon's AA Scholarship. Will look at the pictures and take it from there. Tthank you Derek Lambert!!

I contacted a contractor I know who believes in recycling items. Hopefully, we can find enough within the lounge to recycle whilst mixing in some new items

Last night, I had dinner with a contractor who will assist me with painting and redecorating Mojekwu Lounge. He wants to have a look at the place ASAP and promised not to charge too much. Little does he know that I will be in touch with a couple others just to get the best rate possible. I want the lounge to look great however, I am not looking to lining anyone's pockets...

I spoke with Rafael Mathis this morning and we talked about The MOJEKWU Lounge and he had suggested furniture...tables, chairs, couches. I told him Derek had called and said something about funds to redo the lounge. I also told him I'd love to restart the MOJEKWU DINNER again. I will keep in touch with him as he knows exactly what the current students want to see done in the lounge. THANK YOU Lake Forest College!!!!
