The final wave goodbye is always so bittersweet!

A group of Mrs. Scheidel's 6th grade FACS students collaborated to surprise Mrs. Portner's students with their very own, one-of-a-kind monster creation! They first asked the students to design a monster and then worked together to bring the monsters to life using the sewing skills they learned this semester!🪡🧵

Today, Mrs. Craven's students learned about writing letters. Not just any kind of letters though, these were LOVE letters. In honor of Valentine's Day, their letters were shared and each class voted on their favorites. Some of the winning letters were written to: clothes fresh out of the dryer, the iceberg from the Titanic, front-of-the-line lunch passes, Rick Astley, chocolate chip cookies, McDonalds, Liberty Mutual, burgers, grilled cheese, and a letter to someone from a secret admirer. How creative!
Tickets are now on sale for the CMS musical, Matilda Jr.! The show will feature 65 of our talented students on February 25th (7pm) and 26th (3pm & 7pm) at the Lakeville North auditorium. Click the link below to get your tickets early - we hope to see you there!

This week, our 6th graders went skiing at Welch Village! Whether the students were pros or had never been on skis before, the staff at Welch made sure everyone had the right equipment and felt comfortable before hitting the slopes. ⛷Thank you to the staff of Welch Village, our parent chaperones, and our staff for making it such a fun experience!
Mark your calendars! 📆

UPDATE: At this time police continue to investigate the social media threat from last night. Because the investigation is still ongoing, district buildings and facilities remain closed for the rest of today, December 17. This includes building grounds. This means any activities, programs and facility use scheduled to be held at district buildings are canceled. Activities and programs that take place outside district facilities are allowed to continue as long as participants do not need to report to a district building for transportation. Your activities and program leaders will reach out to you with more details if needed.
We will continue to keep our school community updated on this matter, including weekend facility use and activities. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our community safe.

Yesterday we communicated with you about a nationwide Tik Tok challenge to threaten school safety on December 17. Overnight we unfortunately received a social media threat. We take any threat to school safety seriously and worked aggressively with the Lakeville Police Department to investigate the threat throughout the night and determine its credibility. Despite those efforts, this investigation remains active. Out of an abundance of caution for our students, staff and families, and to support this investigation all schools and district buildings will be closed on Friday, December 17 and classes are canceled.
As with any school closing, Kid Zone and Wonder Zone Child Care will not be offered. Day-time Community Education programs, including early childhood programs and Adult Basic Education, are canceled. Staff should plan to work remotely as there will be no access to any school or district facility until further notice. Students who attend District 917 and LinK12 Lakeville Online School should plan to attend school.
We will continue to keep our school community updated on this matter. Additional information about afternoon and evening activities, programs and facility use will be shared later today.

Students in Mrs. Craven's communications classes have been learning all about word choice. Last week, they talked about "salsa words" - adjectives that can spice up their writing and had a funeral for boring, "rice cake words".
Mark your calendars! 📅
