John F. Kennedy Elementary School

Benji had school today!!! Each year we attend the PawPADS training days. All the District 194 School Resource Dogs and their handlers come together for some learning and fun!

Over the past few years JFK has been updated and remodeled. This summer we are getting a new cafeteria floor, new air handling system, and a new roof. Most of the hallways have construction occurring. While the interior will not look too different, the air and water systems inside our walls are new!! Thank you to all the construction workers and our custodial staff for their hard work in a warm building. The transformation from today to August 19 will be remarkable!

The Last Day of School for the 2023-2024 school year yesterday was an exciting day with many activities happening!

The students got to see students from the graduating class fo 2024 and cheer them on in our annual Senior Walk as well as cheer on the 5th Grade students that walked to celebrating their graduating on to the middle schools. We had lunch outside, picnic style, signed yearbooks, left school to a parade of bubbles and had the annual School Bus Wave as students left. It was a full day of activities and fun for our final day of the school year!

You have made it through the first part of your journey! We have enjoyed getting to know all of the 5th grade students during their time here at JFK Elementary and we look forward to seeing them in their cap and gowns as the Senior Class of 2031!

Congratulations to the Senior Class of 2024!

It was wonderful getting to see so many familiar faces come back to visit JFK yesterday for our Senior Walk! Getting to see the students all grown up from when they were here in 5th grade was a treat and made for a fun afternoon!

The Seniors were giving a pencil sign that had a picture of them on it from when they were 5th grade students at JFK! It is amazing how much they have grown!

This week we had our Spring Activity Day, due to all the rain that has been falling the bounce houses were not able to be used. Students were still able to have Kona Ice and they got a really cool opportunity to see the race cars of some of our very own JFK Students!

Thank you to the Fredrickson Family for bringing your cars to show the students and for talking to them about racing! The students sure loved seeing and learning about them!

This year the JFK Courtyard was the home of a duck family. The mother duck made her nest in the courtyard in May and the whole school waited patiently for the eggs to hatch!

On Monday, 8 ducklings hatched and were seen in the courtyard and then escorted out of the school to the woods and stream behind the building. Enjoy these videos of the mama duck and her 8 ducklings happily wandering to the woods.

Last week our 5th Grade Band Students put on a concert for the rest of the school.

Thank you to all the students that participated in band this year and put in all the hard work that goes into learning their instruments!

JFK PTO Meeting tonight!

Today was the last Library Check-out Day of the school year!

Check out what the JFK Student Council has been up to this week! Check out the pictures from both of the activities that our Student Council group has been up to!

On Thursday, they went to the Highview Hill Senior Living Community for a service project field trip. They went to help with the plants around the facility by weeding and watering and planting! Thank you Student Council Members for all of your help making those spaces beautiful for the residents!!

After that the Student Council Members worked on assembling the Birthday Bags from the money that was donated during our Cash Cow Fundraiser! As a school we raised over $1,700 which lead to 356 pounds of product donated in the form of 120 Birthday Bags to the VEAP Food Pantry in Bloomington.

Thank you to all those that donated towards that fundraiser and to all the members and staff and families of the JFK Student Council for all they have done this year!

Lost and Found at JFK!

It is that time again! Please review the pictures to see if anything belongs to your student. Items that are not collected by the end of the school year will be washed and donated over the summer.

Yesterday our 5th grade students were able to spend the day at Lakeville North High School for a Track and Field Day!

The students had a lot of fun getting to participate in a variety of events throughout the day, as well as getting to visit with other 5th grade students from different Lakeville Elementary Schools.

Today JFK Elementary students got to have a special treat to celebrate all the money that was raised towards making birthday bags!

We raised over $1,600 and we estimate that we will be able to assembly over 100 Birthday Bags that will get dropped off at the Open Door Pantry!

To celebrate this accomplishment for our Cash Cow Fundraiser we had some visitors from the farm along with some activities that students got to participate in!

Thank you to everyone that donated to the fundraiser and to everyone that was involved in making today so much fun!!

🎉🪙 JFK Cash Cow Collection Update! 🪙 🎉

As of today, April 29th, Kindergarten has taken the lead as the grade level that has raised the most coins! They have raised $277.77 as a grade so far!

All grades have raised so much more than last week and we are AMAZED! It is astounding to see how generous the students and families are at JFK!

Our goal was to raise $300 to make birthday bags for Open Door Pantry! It will be amazing to see how many more birthday bags we can make now that we have raised $1,155.44!!! 🎉

So far there have been 6,501 coins donated and we still have 2 more days to drop off coins that you want to donate!

Sunny Days at JFK!

1st Grade students in Ms.Hart's and Mrs. Johnson's classes along with 4th Grade students in Mrs. Bjorklund's class all enjoyed the sunny weather with some group activities outside yesterday!

Students in Ms.Mills class made beautiful Earths in celebration of Earth Day this week!

Spirit Day Tomorrow!

Friday, April 26th is the final spirit day for Autism Acceptance Month! Wear hats to school to celebrate the Magnificent Minds of our students!

Thank you for cleaning up around JFK on Watershed Clean up Day, April 20th.

Over the next two days 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be taking the Math portion of the MCA Tests.

They completed the Reading portion this past week.

Please help students get good meals before testing days and good nights sleep before testing.

The JFK Cash Cow Coin Collection event is off to a FANTASTIC start! We have just over 1 week left to drop off coins in the main office. All donations will be used to purchase supplies for Birthday Bags which will be brought to Open Door Pantry.

Thank you so much for all of the donations so far! Lets keep it going and see which grade level can bring in the most. The winning grade level will get to select an animal for Ms. Anderson to kiss at a school wide event on May 3rd.

Tomorrow is Earth Day! Celebrate the day with us by wearing Blue or Green to school tomorrow!
