Our resident sweet potato is back in her foster home and resting comfortably after two days in the hospital. Darby came through her complicated hernia surgery with flying colors! This girl may be little but she’s tough. We wanted to take this moment to thank all of our supporters who donated to her care! Your donations prevented a potential emergency situation and aided in Darby being able to live a full and healthy life. We especially want to thank Leo’s Helping Paws, a wonderful organization that provides grants to non-profit animal rescues, for contributing to her care. It is beyond words to express how grateful we are at Senior Dog Haven & Hospice to have such wonderful folks who love these special senior dogs as much as we do. Here’s to a speedy recovery, Darby!
Events like Bow Wow Bingo allow us to raise funds to help pay for the care and healing of dogs in need. Please consider sponsoring our event. Your donation can help cover the cost of a Bingo game or a raffle prize, which in turn, raises funds for the dogs.

Over the Next Few Weeks, Leo’s will be sharing the Stories of how your Donations for our 10th Anniversary have Helped Dogs in Need.
This is Duckie, she was Rescued from a Shelter by Salfid Rescue Inc.. She seemed fine during her Transport but 4 Days later her Foster had noticed her lack of appetite along with her stool being bloody. She was Rushed to the Vet immediately and was Diagnosed with Parvo. Fortunately for Duckie she was able to pull through after a few days of 24/7 Treatment.
Thank You Everyone…Your Support to Leo’s Helping Paws truly Saves Lives ❤️🙏🐾
As we begin to wrap up our 10-Year Anniversary Celebration, everyone at Leo's would like to thank our many wonderful donors. We are humbled by your generosity, which will enable us to continue our Mission, and help many dogs in need of assistance.

Plus, it’s not just about dogs—we'll have information on large animals and exotic pets too. Join us for a day of fun, learning, and making a difference.
Mark your calendars for September 7th and help us support these amazing rescues! 🐶🐱🦜🐾
Our Happy Ella. ❤️
Cindi has a long history of volunteering for many causes including children’s programs, elderly care, and animal rescue. She grew up in a household that loved dogs and often took in strays and continued that into her adulthood. She initially became aware of rescue organizations in 2014 and did a private fundraiser for a Colorado rescue she saw on Facebook. That inspired her to look for a local rescue volunteer opportunity.
She joined Leo’s in 2014 and became a board member in March of 2020. She resides in Lancaster County with her husband, Scott (also a volunteer with Leo’s) and their 2 rescued chihuahua sisters lovingly referred to as the Yappy Twins!

Joyce has been with Leo’s since the very beginning. She helped get Leo’s get incorporated and with the Bylaws. Her dog Serena was an Honorary Board member and attended all the volunteer meetings when they were held at the Tourist Bureau. Joyce’s Corgi, Tina, has stepped in now. Joyce’s nursery, Butterfly Oasis, gets very busy in the spring and fall, so while she can’t always attend events, she lends support in other ways. Thank you, Joyce!
There is no Greater Love than that from our Pets 🐾 ❤️ Have a Wonderful Day and spread Love and Kindness wherever you go today!

Krista Jenkins is Leo’s Vice President and a member of the grant committee. Krista and her husband have been rescuing all types of animals since 1996. They have supported several different rescue groups through volunteering, fostering, adopting and fundraising.
Krista became interested in Leo’s when her ability to foster was limited due to the number of animals in her care. With a horse, a pony, 4 goats, a sheep, a rooster and 4 dogs, she saw Leo’s as a great way to continue to support rescue work without more animals coming under her roof.
She loves getting exposure to the many rescue groups Leos supports and seeing the great work so many of them are doing.
This picture is of Krista and a sweet golden doodle just a few minutes after she was able to remove her from a puppy mill in Lancaster. You will frequently hear her say this is the stuff that feeds her soul.
Keep your pets cool. Limit time outside! Stay safe, friends. 😀
10 Years Ago on this Day, July 16th, 2014, Beth Buchter Joyce Nettke and Kathy Styer, sat outside on Joyce’s Patio eating Pizza and signed all the Paperwork for Leo's Helping Paws to be an Incorporated, 501 (c)3 Non Profit Organization. With Joyce’s guidance as our Lawyer and a Passion we all shared, we have Helped Hundreds of Dogs and have Given $665,000 to Rescues to Pay their Vet Bills. And a Special Thank You to Joanne Ressler and Rick Ressler for being 2 of our Original Board Members. We Have Come a Long way!! 🙏❤️🐾

To my human moms & dads, this is what happens to my paws when you take me out in the scorching sun ☀️ when the pavement is so hot !
Remember I sweat through my paws, so in this heat I can’t get rid of my sweat as my paws are burning. Missing my walk won’t harm me. Please let me just relax indoors and take me out when the sun is down🐾
If you see someone walking their dog on hot pavement, ask them to take off their shoes for the remainder of their walk home. Maybe then they'll understand.
Thank you to 8 Below Husky Rescue for this valuable advice 🙏
