Pickle Rick Goes To Therapy | Rick and Morty | Max 06/22/2023

So yesterday a patient introduced me to Dr Wong, the soft spoken Chinese American therapist, coprophagia recovery expert, who cuts through interdimensional BS without blinking an eye. 😂 I am in awe. Jessica Gao, the creator of Dr Wong, is brilliant!! Behind all the hilarity and absurdity, she touched upon really complex and painful topics around family dysfunction, sorting through layers of vulnerability.

As a therapist, I know that patients who engage in honest self reflection are more in touch with their feelings, more connected to their authentic voices, and more likely to achieve their goals. They are also more likely to truly benefit from the work done in therapy sessions.

Writing down one's thoughts and feelings is an important way to achieve that self reflection. Consistent journaling can promote self-awareness, emotional regulation, and personal growth. However, maintaining consistency with traditional pen-and-paper journals can be challenging for some. Recognizing this, I embarked on a passion project to create a digital journal that combines the benefits of self-reflection with cutting-edge technology.

I am excited to share with everyone Gagali (https://thegagali.com), an interactive digital journal that talks with you in a nonjudgmental way as you write, prompting you to examine your thoughts and feelings, helping you make sense of your experiences, and generating action items to help you move towards your goals. I've been using this tool with many of my patients - some of them have transformed into devoted journalers as a result. Some have used the "share" feature to send me copies of their entries so that we can review them in session. Now I am happy to share it free of charge with anyone who could benefit from self reflection and honest self dialogue.

Who this is for:
- Those who wish to develop more self awareness through writing
- Those who have struggled with avoidance and are searching for a non-threatening way to examine their thoughts
- Mental health professional who would like to engage their clients in creative ways in and outside of therapy sessions

Please let me know your thoughts! I would love to hear your feedback!

PCE 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCE 11/22/2020

Last month, I had the honor of serving as a returning expert panelist at the Parent Child Education Club Annual Conference, a bilingual event promoting EQ parenting among Asian American parents. The Keynote Speaker this year was Dr. Shefali Tsabary, whose work on conscious parenting has been a transformative influence for me. My co-panelists, Dr. Philip Siu and Dr. Huaiyu Yang, offered numerous pearls of wisdom based on medical science drew from their their own parenting experience. The conference also featured a panel of incredible Asian American young adults who shared heartfelt accounts of their cross cultural journeys and how they view their relationships with their parents.
