Hey Mama PT is moving to Las Vegas, NV!! Effective April 2023 we are no longer servicing the San Antonio area. Currently, my husband and I are squatters, and I am not mad about it. In one week we will start our road trip to Las Vegas!
This is bittersweet news as there is no place like San Antonio with its culture, food, and amazing people. It is the place where I started my business and love project, Hey Mama PT. I am immensely grateful to the San Antonio community for supporting me and my business. For each and every patient trusting me with their baby, with their pregnancy and postpartum journeys, and their overall health and mobility goals. I have the best patients and I could not do what I love without you! Major shout out to the amazing practitioners and birth workers of the San Antonio birth network for welcoming me with open arms 💜
Thank you IG community for every like, follow, share and interaction.
I will continue to share all things pelvic floor, mobility, wellness and baby footage + tips to meet developmental milestones. You can hit me with any questions via DM. I love interacting with all of you!
My heart is so full and I cannot wait to meet all of the Mamas & babies in Las Vegas!
Happy Valentine’s Day! 💕
A friendly reminder to pay attention to your breath.
✨Are you holding your breath throughout the day?
✨what moves in your body when you inhale?
✨can you take a deep breath
✨do you feel expansion in your rib cage when you breath?
Our breath is a gift and THE tool to help manage pressure in our bodies. Let’s get curious about our breathing!
This month Hey Mama PT turned ONE! Eeeek! I can’t believe that it has already been a year since I launched the practice of my dreams. What a year is has been, working with amazing mamas, babies, and families towards a common goal!
I created my business to support and spread hope to women dealing with pelvic floor issues. So many of us have them, but few of us speak of how scary issues “down there” can be. You are not alone, and there are lots of tools to help you!
I love each and every one of you that support me and my business, both loudly quietly from your screens and in real life. I see you, I appreciate you, and I am here for you. Let me know what kind of content you would like to see more of 👇
It is easy to be upset and frustrated with our bodies when we are in pain. We can sometimes feel like we have lost control of our bodies. This is a topic that has been coming up with Mamas especially early postpartum.
What if we took a moment to thank our bodies for all that they do. What if we thanked our bodies for the pain? After all, our bodies try to protect us through pain signals. Our bodies are trying to communicate with us. What if we stop and listen?
Sometimes it is necessary to remind our bodies we are safe, that they can turn off the alarm. During PT, we do this by helping you tune into your body and reintroduce movement at an appropriate pace to recalibrate your system.
Let’s get curious!
Throwback Thursday to last week when I got to meet the UTSA Pre-PT students and talk about all things pelvic floor physical therapy! I was so floored to be invited (see what I did there🤣)
A mother’s instinct is always right. I hear it so often, “I am concerned about my baby’s crawling (or any other developmental milestone), but my doctor told us to just wait it out.”
The earlier mobility and developmental issues are addressed, the faster children respond. Our bodies are so great at compensating, that if the root issue at hand is not addressed, the child will learn to compensate and develop not optimal movement pattern. In our practice, we use manual based therapy techniques to release soft tissue structures including the fascial system (aka bodywork) followed by appropriate strengthening activities, specific to your child needs.
I am a big advocate for a PT evaluation. Best case scenario, your child does not need therapy and you obtain activity recommendations to help them continue growing in their gross motor skills. Worst case scenario, your child need PT and you get him the care that he needs and set him up for success as he continues to develop. Always follow your motherly instinct.
Pelvic floor PT during pregnancy has numerous benefits including:
✨helps you stay active during your pregnancy. Your body is continuously changing and needs the appropriate modifications to prevent injury and continue doing the things you enjoy (or need to get done daily)
✨trains your pelvic floor for labor
✨reduces the risk of perineal tearing
✨addresses pain patterns and symptoms to keep you as comfortable as possible during pregnancy
✨prepares you for post part in recovery
✨serves as a way to prevent bladder/bowel issues during pregnancy & postpartum
Pelvic floor PT should be a standard of care! Can I get an Amen 🙏🏻
Can you believe I get to work with the cutest baby models!!
My sessions consist of Body work aka manual therapy and conventional PT stretches/exercises. The combination of the two lead to amazing results!
Here we are positioning baby on their side and supporting beneath their armpits. You can do this over your leg or using a small pillow. The intention is to provide gentle stretching to the side of the trunk. Maintain for 1-2 min each side.
Appropriate at 2-3 months of age when they are developing head control. But ultimately to you babies tolerance.
If you are seeing the any of the following, give this position a try:
✨favoring one side of their body
✨difficulty reaching
✨side bending of their trunk when they are laying on their backs
When addressing soft tissue restrictions resulting in difficulties with feedings, it is soo important to address the whole body (Can you tell there’s a theme here 😀)

The pelvic floor works as a system and not like an individual muscle such as a bicep!
Things I assess and treat during my sessions with patients presenting pelvic floor dysfunction:
✨foot strength mobility
✨the nervous system
✨breath pattern
✨rib cage and mid back mobility
✨neck mobility
✨posture
✨TMJ aka jaw mechanics &function
✨hip strength and mobility
✨body mechanics/functional movements
✨balance
✨core strength
And so much more!
A multidisciplinary approach is 🔑
You are not alone! Pelvic floor issues are common (not normal) and treatable!
Send this to a friend thinking of taking the first step toward pelvic floor PT 😃
Does this sound familiar? Knowledge is power! There are so many tools and resources for your child!!
What else would you like to know about Torticollis or your child’s development?
Comment 👇🏼 or DM us!
So much talk about tummy time, but let’s not forget about side sitting or laying your baby on it’s side.
When to try side sitting??
When you baby is working on sitting l and developing that independence. Try it out around 6-7 months providing some support beneath their armpits.
If your baby is younger, try positioning them on their side with a rolled towel or pillow behind them during play activities.
Benefits:
✨reduces time on their backs
✨easier for babies to bring their hands to midline
✨help prepare for rolling
Happy Monday! Let’s channel my precious, hard working friend!
No need for perfection. Consistently show up for yourself and feel the changes in your body! You are worth it!
10-15min each day go a long way! Don’t know where to start? Make the decision to find someone to provide you with the tools to get to your goals 🙋🏻♀️
Pelvic floor therapy is not limited to you having pain, bladder or bowel issues.
Maybe you are looking at getting back to your workout after pregnancy or an episode of low back pain, but your body is not cooperating or it just doesn’t feel right!
There are a lot of workout programs to bounce back and I am here for them as long they are done with proper form and not causing pain or your symptoms to flare up.
No activities are off the table after pregnancy BUT YOU NEED A GAME PLAN!
