UPDATE from Stefanie: on Election Day Tuesday, McMichael came in fourth place in his primary. He will not be on the ballot for reelection in October.
Further, we will continue to work with all of the Regents and universtiy administration to make our college campuses a place where free speech is encouraged and hate is not accepted.
There's still more for us to do. While Regent McMichael will no longer be on the NSHE Board, I encourage to make your voice heard. Write to Amy Carvalho, Chair of the Nevada State Higher Education Board at [email protected]. Share the message: Hate has no place on the NSHE Board or our college campuses. Most importantly, we can work together to make sure that the next NSHE Board is creating an inclusive space where all students are welcome and safe.
Sadly, this is what so much of our work has become since 10/7…continuing to fight and advocate for our safety…not just of our students, but of our community. It’s exhausting, but we won’t stop. I won’t stop.
Shabbat Shalom.
