Celebrating the legacy of Father Flanagan with a cool treat! In recognition of Father Flanagan's birthday this past Saturday, July 13th, Boys Town Nevada came together for a little Ice Cream Social. We are so grateful for Kim Metcalf, Board Member and John Etzel, our Executive Director, for serving up smiles (and ice cream)! While we ate our ice cream we celebrated with some Trivia questions about Father Flanagan. 🍨🍦🎉

Last Saturday, Boys Town Nevada Development Coordinator Mikayla volunteered with Spread The Word Nevada to help clean and prepare books for low-income schools. Thank you to Spread The Word Nevada for the opportunity to connect with another amazing non-profit that is dedicated to assisting children in the Southern Nevada community!

Last Week, Boys Town Nevada's Director of Community Outreach Jane Saint had the pleasure of attending the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Nevada 22nd anniversary celebration. Thanks to Amie Jo Greer for serving as the Mistress of Ceremonies and Phyllis James for sharing her pearls of wisdom as the keynote speaker! What a great event to recognize all that the Women’s Chamber has done for Nevada. Boys Town Nevada looks forward to all that the Women’s Chamber will be doing in the future.

Reflecting on the memorable day when Mayor Carolyn Goodman and the Las Vegas City Council recognized June 21 as Boys Town Nevada Day. On behalf of the 8,000+ kids we served in 2023, thank you City of Las Vegas! Truly an amazing day! City of Las Vegas Government

This year in honor of Juneteeth and to support future Black female leaders, Boys Town Nevada team members attended The Public Education Foundation's Black Girl Magic Juneteenth Jubilee Luncheon: Education IS Freedom! Thank you to The Public Education Foundation and the Black Girl Magic Host Committee for putting together such a successful event to celebrate Black women in American history, and to raise money for the Black Girl Magic Scholarship Fund!

What an honor for our Executive Team Members, John, Jane, and Dana, to be chosen to attend a Charity Networking Event at the Governor's Mansion! Thanks to the First Lady Donna Lombardo for hosting an event where non-profit organizations and others involved in Youth and Family Programs could come together for a cause.

Now that school is out for Clark County School District students, our School Support Specialist are hard at work training and learning new skills for the next school year! Last week, Dr. Tara Borsh from the Boys Town Nevada Behavioral Health Clinic did a presentation on ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder). Boys Town Nevada looks forward to how this team training will help students be successful at school!

This weekend, Boys Town Nevada's Development Team attended the Urban Chamber of Commerce - Nevada 2024 Access to Capital Event! This event connected our team to investors, lenders, and resource partners, and even held an informative fundraising workshop on grants. Thank you to all the community members such as Jerrie E. Merritt and Dr. Desirae King for making this event so memorable!

On Memorial Day, we take time to remember the brave individuals, many of whom are Boys Town alums, who stepped up to defend our freedom.
We celebrate their extraordinary service, commitment and courage. Thank you for all you've done for our country!

This week, many high schools across Clark County School District held their graduation ceremonies. Boys Town Nevada School Support Specialist Ulanda and Daijon attended Chapparral High Schools graduation ceremony, celebrating Chapparral's seniors hard work and achievements. Congratulations to all the students who made it to this milestone!

This Thursday, Boys Town Nevada was recognized by Clark County Commissioner Justin C. Jones and Michael Naft , declaring May 16th “Boys Town Nevada – Mental Health Action Awareness Day.” In recognition of Mental Health Action Day, the normal yellow bulbs on the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign were turned to green for Mental Health Awareness. A special thank you to Molina Healthcare of Nevada and Silvia and Kevin Buckley of Freedom House Sober Living and First Real Estate for making this special day possible!

Last weekend, Boys Town Nevada had the pleasure of attending United Way of Southern Nevada's Women United Fashion Show. Thank you United Way of Southern Nevada for hosting such a successful event, and for empowering women within our community!
