Following an intense court case, this gang of human traffickers has been sentenced to prison, up to 28 years each, for trafficking three underage girls and two women to Myanmar.

Our Vietnam partner, Blue Dragon, rescued two of the girls and stood in court today to represent them against the gang that sold them.

We're so grateful for Blue Dragon's continued dedication in supporting survivors. Together, we're making significant strides in ending this inhumane crime. 🙏

In Thailand, stateless children face difficulties with enrolling in any official Thai school. Struggling to get an education, they're aggressively targeted by human traffickers.

Not For Sale provides children with safety, stability, nutritious meals and medical care in Chiang Rai. We enroll all children in primary, secondary, or university education and offer shelter and long-term housing for youth rescued from exploitation.

We provide a variety of life skills to equip the children to become self-sufficient, contributing members of the community. 🌟Not For Sale Thailand has been named by the Thai National Government a ‘model program’ for the border regions of the country.

Blue Dragon just rescued a 16 year old Vietnamese boy from forced online scamming in Myanmar. After 7 months in slavery, his first request once he was safe was a bowl of pho. 🍲

🌟 Not For Sale Thailand was our first project, inspired by the incredible Kru Nam, a local artist and activist dedicated to rescuing and supporting at-risk children in Northern Thailand. (Kru Nam is pictured in the first photo with our co-founder, Dave Batstone).

With Kru Nam’s tireless efforts, we built Baan Kru Nam (Kru Nam’s Home), providing a safe haven for over 150 children, many of whom are stateless from Laos, Myanmar, and indigenous Hill Tribe communities. Thanks to Kru Nam, these children are now enrolled in school, from primary to university! 🎓📚

📢 Did you know? Thailand is home to 4.9 million migrants, making up over 10% of its workforce. Many come seeking better opportunities but face significant risks of exploitation and trafficking. Women from neighboring countries, as well as ethnic minorities and stateless individuals, are particularly vulnerable.

As of April 2024, The United Nations Office On Drugs and Crime has launched a new global action plan to combat human trafficking and migrant smuggling.

In response to the evolving challenges posed by organized crime, digital exploitation, and global crises, this initiative aims to:

🔸Highlight the connections between trafficking, smuggling, and other organized crimes such as cybercrime, money laundering, and drug trafficking.

🔸Prioritize the fight against child trafficking, as over 30% of identified victims are children.

🔸Broaden efforts to protect vulnerable migrants and identify trafficking victims within migration and refugee flows.

🔸Expand on-the-ground presence with resident experts in high-need areas.

🔸Commit to sustainable development and gender equality.

This action plan is crucial in the ongoing fight against human trafficking and migrant smuggling, reinforcing global efforts to protect and support victims. Together, we can make a difference. 🙌

On May 30th, 2024, NFS Vietnam parter Blue Dragon rescued two 14 year old Vietnamese girls who were trafficked to Myanmar and sold to a brothel. Over the past 5 years, they have been resold numerous times and endured horrifying treatment. 💔

Upon reaching safety, their first request was to call their mothers.

LGBTQ+ youth are among our nation's most vulnerable populations. They face higher rates of discrimination, harassment, family rejection, and violence, which often lead to homelessness.

🔸Nearly 40% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ+ compared to just 7% of the general population.

In desperate circumstances, many turn to survival s*x or fall victim to traffickers to meet their basic needs. Unfortunately, when LGBTQ+ victims seek help, they often face discrimination or a lack of understanding from service providers.

At Not For Sale, we know that inclusive and empowering services are essential. The U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline reveals that unmet needs and a lack of proper support can lead to re-traumatization and re-victimization, driving them back into trafficking situations.

🔸 Doan, a 15-year-old girl enslaved in a brothel in Laos, is now safely home with her mother and receiving expert medical care.

🌍🔥 2023 was the hottest year on record, with global average temperatures soaring 1.46°C above pre-industrial levels, surpassing the previous record set in 2016 by 0.13°C.

This alarming trend included six record-breaking months and two unprecedented seasons.

🚨 The climate crisis is further exacerbated by skyrocketing carbon dioxide (CO2) levels. Historically stable at around 280 parts per million (ppm) for nearly 6,000 years, CO2 levels have now surged past 420 ppm—more than double pre-Industrial Revolution levels.

This dramatic rise is a direct result of human activities such as burning fossil fuels for transportation and electricity, cement manufacturing, deforestation, and agriculture, according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Administrator Rick Spinrad.

The time for action is now. We must urgently address these human-driven changes to protect our planet and future generations. 🌱🌏
