The Marion County Water District want to advise their customers of the following:

A BOIL WATER ADVISORY has been issued for the following Marion County Water District customers as of January 19, 2024, 5:30 a.m.

Due to a water line break and consistent with the Kentucky Division of Water Regulation 401 KAR 8:020, the Marion County Water District was required to issue a Boil Water Advisory to the following Marion County Water District Customers:

The Hwy 1157 area from Arbuckle Creek Rd to Hwy 49 to include all Arbuckle Road, Medlock, Elmwood and Settles Rd.

or approximately two hundred and sixty-eight (268) customers.

We are issuing this Boil Water Advisory only as a precautionary measure. While bacteriological contamination of the water has not been confirmed, the possibility of such contamination exists. This advisory is issued as a precautionary measure to protect the health and welfare of consumers in our Water System.

We regularly test chlorine residuals to ensure all safety and health is being met for our customers. We will update customers if any change in water quality occurs.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY PROCEDURES:
1. BOIL ANY WATER USED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION
2. BOIL WATER FOR SHORT-TERM USE ONLY
3. BRING WATER TO ROLLING BOIL FOR THREE (3) MINUTES

The advisory will remain in effect until test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. We anticipate being able to remove the Boil Water Advisory sometime early January 20, 2024, pending clean bacteria samples from our system. Please listen to local media as information will be updated.

For more information concerning the Boil Water Advisory update, please contact the Marion County Water District at 270-692-2004.

Cold weather tips:

Let a small stream or fast drip run from your faucets to prevent pipes from freezing.

Open cabinet doors to let heat get to pipes and plumbing.

Locate your cut off valves to cut water off in case you have a pipe to burst.

Locate your water meter and make sure the lid is secure and mark the meter if possible in case there is a big snow.

Always make sure that you put the lid back on the meter; the meter will freeze in just a few minutes when uncovered.

Never use a torch to unthaw pipes. Call a plumber.

Make sure your foundation vents around your house are closed or covered to prevent cold air from freezing pipes.
