This morning SLFP48 was asked to help with a landing zone for the Army Blackhawk Helicopter landing at opening day for little league. 3 officers from the unit secured the landing zone for arrival and departure. We may have snuck in a photo op 😁. While returning to the garage with traffic 48, LT Ladd stopped at a local lemonade stand and gave the hard working crew a light show. We thank all the public for a awesome day out, we hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather.
congratulations to our very own LT Jason Ladd on this recognition. Well deserved!

Tuesday night March 12th 2024, two officers from SLFP traveled to Hershey Medical Center to participate in the 3rd Annual Light up the Night. The event is held on the grounds of HMC to lift the spirits of kids and families who are at HMC. This year over 75 agencies [Fire, EMS, Police and Tow trucks] lined the grounds around the hospital for everyone to see. We had a blast bringing a little joy to everyone who could use it. Thanks to Dustin Weese for the pictures of the units.
congratulations to the SLFD on this beautiful new piece of apparatus coming to the Township. well deserved and earned. keep up the great work!

thoughts and prayers as a family loses one of their own..
The fallen firefighter from last night’s home explosion in Sterling has been identified as Firefighter Trevor Brown, 45, of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company. He has been affiliated with the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System since 2016. Please keep Firefighter Brown’s family, friends, and colleagues in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, and we ask that the family’s privacy be respected.
As a result of last night’s incident, emergency medical services personnel from Loudoun and Fairfax Counties identified 13 patients in addition to the fatally injured Firefighter Brown. This includes 11 first responders and two civilians with varying degree of injuries. Of the injured first responders, four remain hospitalized at local area hospitals. The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and additional information will be released as available.

*FINAL CALL WITH UPGRADE*
Between the first call and now, model guidance has taken some dramatic jumps to a colder and more snow filled storm. This is because our system will be ticking a bit farther south, allowing colder air to move in faster.
What does this mean for Lebanon?
Snow totals upgraded to 2 to 5, with the potential to exceed 6+
TIMING: Rain develops this evening, ALL locations will start as rain, and then as cold air rushes in, rain will then change to HEAVY SNOW. Snow rates are projected to be insane, with 1 to 3 inch rates per hour, in other words, PUKING SNOW.
Additionally, I now expect ALL surfaces to quickly accumulate as the snow rates will be plentiful to cool the ground.
The worst of this storm comes early Tuesday morning, though, the mid afternoon before ending.
This will be an extremely heavy wet snow so please, take your time removing it.
Winter storm watch remains in effect from 2AM until 1PM Tuesday.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and fellow first responder from the tragic fire this morning in North Londonderry Twp, just know we all have you in our thoughts and wish you healing in the coming days. We are all part of the same family on days like today.
Three of our fire police provided traffic control during a training exercise hosted by the South Lebanon Fire Department. Tankers were filled from water drafted from the Tulpehocken Creek. The tankers dumped the water at Station 29 on Prescott Rd. and returned to be filled again. The exercise lasted about 90 minutes.

Today is back to school day! Please plan accordingly, allowing extra time for your commute and watch out for the students and school busses. We hope all the students have a great first day back!
It’s been an eventful couple of days.
This afternoon 3 fire police from our unit assisted in Jackson Township with traffic and crowd control for a barricaded gunman. Once again, we faced challenges with crowd control, in this case due to the densely populated area but fortunately nothing we couldn’t handle. We were released after 3 hours. The total incident time was over 4 hours.
Our unit assisted in North Lebanon Township with a fatal motor vehicle accident this evening. The call presented us with some challenging crowd control issues which were handled professionally.
Eleven fire police from South Lebanon, North Lebanon, and North Cornwall Townships were on scene for 4 hours.
Due to significant shifts in weather conditions resulting in both a current and forecasted continued low risk of wildfires, the Lebanon County Commissioners have lifted the temporary burn ban effective immediately.
Lebanon County Department of Emergency Services would like to remind everyone that even though the burn ban is being lifted, steps should still be taken to ensure outdoor fires are always safe and controlled.
•Never leave a fire unattended.
•If you must use fireworks, make sure you do so in a responsible manner.
•Keep other combustible materials far away from outdoor fires. FEMA recommends a 25-foot safety zone around the fire.
•Always be aware of embers or sparks leaving the fire.
•Keep a close eye on the daily wildfire danger maps and adjust your outdoor fire-related activities accordingly. Maps can be found at https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/Communities/Wildfire/Pages/default.aspx
•Make sure you know the local laws governing outdoor burning, including municipal-level ordinances.
