ACT vs SAT For HS Students/Parents

Structure and Content
ACT:

Sections: English, Math, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing section.
Math: Covers algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Includes some more advanced math concepts.
Science: Tests scientific reasoning and interpretation.
Timing: 2 hours and 55 minutes (without Writing), 3 hours and 40 minutes (with Writing).
Scoring: Each section scored 1-36, composite score is the average of the four section scores.
SAT:

Sections: Reading, Writing and Language, Math (with calculator and no calculator sections), and an optional Essay.
Math: Focuses on algebra, problem-solving and data analysis, and some advanced math.
Reading and Writing: Emphasizes evidence-based reading and writing.
Timing: 3 hours (without Essay), 3 hours and 50 minutes (with Essay).
Scoring: Each section scored 200-800, total score range is 400-1600.
Pros and Cons
ACT Pros:

How to Choose the Best Test
Strengths and Weaknesses:
If you’re stronger in science and prefer straightforward questions, the ACT might be better.
If you excel in critical reading and writing and prefer a more analytical approach, the SAT could be a better fit.
Practice Tests:
Take practice tests for both exams to see which format you’re more comfortable with and score higher on.
College Requirements:
Check if the colleges you’re interested in prefer one test over the other or if they accept both equally.

I am excited about The Creative Wellness Project, a faith-based creative ministry! My board and I have been discussing a lot of cool things! Soooo what’s new with Kindred Creatives????

We are focusing more on community events promoting the love of literacy and creativity! We are focusing more on the art and literary press where we will publish a quarterly press for children and adults.

We will start hosting creative writing workshops for all ages at schools, organizations, parks and more!

Today we are at the Hilton Garden Inn spreading the word!

We had a great time yesterday doing I Am statement posters with the kiddos! Did you know that although we no longer have a store, we will do pop ups around the DFW and schools can put us in their calendar for many different types of workshops?!?! Send us an email [email protected]

It has been a challenging few months for a lot of things but mostly my business. I have/had a bookstore for over a year. I resigned and took a leap of faith to open a brick and mortar space to uplift and amplify voices of color. This space housed open mics, book readings, creative markets and more. It was a space where black, indigenous, and people of color could put their books and creations on the shelves without censorship. This place allowed families to come and create for next to free. It was a beautiful space and unfortunately as I enter this new year I close the doors on this space. It is hard to receive when your hands are full. So I had to empty my hands… I worked really hard on this and had amazing supporters as well. I’m looking forward to the next phase of my journey. Thank you all for your support! There will be plans for so please continue to support!!
