Blewits abound! We found this patch of purple beauties in our composted woodchip pile this morning. These guys can usually be found hiding under leaves and pinestraw during the winter months. Blewits are great decomposers along the forest floor. It's nice to know that even in the dark and cold of winter, nature still provides!

We just picked these gorgeous reishi mushrooms today! There is a tree in our backyard that pumps these guys out all summer long. This is our third flush from the same tree!
Reishi (or Ganoderma spp.) is also known as "the mushroom of immortality". This beautiful polypore mushroom has been used in Chinese medicine for over 2000 years. Reishi is an adaptogen, which means that it helps the body to adapt to stress.
This mushroom isn't necessarily one that you would eat! It has a hard, corky texture as well as a very bitter taste. Most folks make reishi tea or tincture in order to reap its many health benefits. This batch will be dried and used to make tinctures, which is my favorite way to use it.
🎶It's the ciiiirrrrrcle of liiiife!🎶
We found this beautiful slime mold growing on our compost pile yesterday! At the end of each week, we dump our microgreen trays into a huge heap. We chop the soil and plant matter just a bit with a shovel and stir it up, making a rich compost base.
The South Carolina summer heat teams up with the microbes in the soil, giving us compost to be used in our organic veggie fields. This slime mold is doing his part too, helping to break everything down.
We struck gold today! These little chanterelles were harvested this morning. Now they're off to a local restaurant!
Broccoli microgreens are the stars of the microgreen world! These guys pack a powerful nutritional punch, with high amounts of sulforaphane and potassium. Sulforaphane is known to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Broccoli microgreens have been shown to have 10x more sulforaphane than mature broccoli! Also, the broccoli microgreens are usually eaten raw, making their nutrients more readily available.
These little guys are slightly crunchy with a strong broccoli flavor. They are great on sandwiches and salads, but can also be added to cooked dishes. We use Di Cicco Broccoli seeds, which are an Italian heirloom variety. Di Cicco Broccoli is known for its mild flavor.
We hope that you love our broccoli micros as much as we do!

We grow a variety of microgreens each week using organic practices. We've been in business for about a month now, but have already expanded rapidly!
